THIS. I'm not sure what makes you feel like finding an NPC is a competition, but that's what you're describing. Do you really feel special every time you find a gas station on the side of the road and fill your gas tank? Nope, because it's a mundane task.If finding out where to go makes you feel like you're accomplished, I really don't think you're that far ahead of the people who need directions where to go in terms of development.
No one of much skill or talent level gets a sense of accomplishment out of finding where the Amal'ja grunts are for the captor's ring quest series. Sorry. Just put where it is on the map.

So is anyone who actually reads my entire OP going to reply? Or is the train of people who only read the title going to continue? -_-
Even if it doesn't "Hurt anything", don't you think it's stupid(is this word allowed? let's see)how much the game holds our hand and tells us exactly where to go and what to do multiple times in multiple ways?
I wish you could toggle it off. It's way too easy. I want to be challenged by mobs and quest discriptions alike. That's why I like the easter event. At least you have to search for these spriggans instead of just following a yallow arrow. Ty, SE~ ^^
We all read everything. There's just nothing much to it.
You balk at the straw-man "2 year old" because for some reason you feel proud of pulling your pants up by yourself. To the rest of us, we don't really give anyone any intelligence, talent, skill, or performance points for knowing where to go for quests.
You feel proud for performing secretarial tasks, I will have a secretary mark where to go on my map because I have better things to do than wander around and act like that makes me a good player.
quest markers are for convenience, not to insult your intelligence. Plus if they weren't there people would be getting bombarded with questions like "where do I go for this or that?" And sometimes, the NPC can even be difficult to pick out amongst a group when there are many people or NPCs around, so it helps you make sure you click the right one.
The reason people are attacking you Shiyo, is because you're making it seem like your point of view is the only correct one. Majority of us simply do not agree with you. You should take this as a loss and move on.
I have been very hostile, respective and not attacking you, but take a quick look at the way you response to me.
If you have an intelligent manner like you claimed, i'd drop this topic already because you have almost everyone against you right now. Also, reading wall of text will only improve my skill in english language, nothing game related.People like you are ruining MMOs, you only play "for the reward!". The reward should be the journey, the story, the interaction, the fun, not the end. That is why FFXI was good, that is why COP was amazing. You probably have no idea what the story in single player games are, because it's a "wall of text", the best part of single player RPGs is the boss fights and the story, the connection to the characters. This was what we all felt with COP, together, in a group, I bet you didn't read COP either huh? WALL OF TEXT!
Nope, we all pretty much understand where the disagreement comes from: you think you're really awesome. That's fine, you probably are awesome. The problem is, suggestions should not begin "Im awesome and youre not, so: xyz"

That's exactly why I'm complaining, the game is on track to casualville. I also have no other MMOs to play, because they've all gone extremely casual and easy. Lots of people who I've talked to who have the same opinions as me also don't have any other MMO to go to, this was our last MMO for a while(forever?). After this one, if it becomes casual, easy, unrewarding and unchallenging, most of us are probably not going to play MMOs for a while.[Removed by Moderator according to the FINAL FANTASY XIV FORUM Guidelines.] If you want something hardcore that doesn't hold your hand at all, play something else, because honestly this game is on the fast track to casualville.

Calling everyone idiots and 2 year olds is being rude and disrespecful
even using those words in general is rude and disrespectful
get the point
also quest markers arent that bad, i like how its in sort of a chat bubble instead of a big !!!!!! over the mob like in many other games
