    A game. Insulting your Intelligence.

Anyway, I didn't look at the map at that quest =D You know... chocobo stable, 34 seconds from the guild. And I didn't see the marks at all in the minimap

Tsk, reading journal is for who don't want to read what the NPC tells. If you take it without looking at the journal, you can have more fun in the quests by having the chatting as the only information thing, then if you can't solve the enigma, just open the journal as a final resource.

Just a suggestion to make quests more adventurous and funny =D

You probably have no idea what the story in single player games are, because it's a "wall of text", the best part of single player RPGs is the boss fights and the story, the connection to the characters. This was what we all felt with COP, together, in a group, I bet you didn't read COP either huh? WALL OF TEXT!
Actually it is people like you who ruin mmo. You are up in everone elses buiness when you should mind your own. You care to much about how other people play. Not everyone has a ton of time to find the npc they need. Or can fully pay attention to the text. When I play, I'm also trying to make sure my nephew isn't grabing the Laptop charger. So i miss alot of info. The text scrolls pretty fast also. It isn't Lazy to have markers. It is more for those w/o too much time.

Shiyo, I agree with a number of you points. I think that the journey is more important than the reward, and I agree that the game could stand to up the difficulty in a number of areas. At the same time, a number of conveniences should be added to prevent players from just looking up the information via a website, much like what everyone did in XI. It's important to find a proper balance.

I think the best way to handle this is to bold key locations and items in the text of the quest information, and adjust the map to make locations easier to spot. In instances of quests wanting you to find some random spot in the desert, I think the quest information should give you it's coordinates, instead of placing a quest marker on the map. Using these methods, the game gives more than enough information, and at the same time does not lead you directly to your goal.

i dont mind the quest marker, but i dont like the looks, they have to be perhaps 3d slightly transparent or something... or just the ! without the bubble, or perhaps just the bubble but a bit smaller and i would love to have it decrease in size or saturation the lower the quest lvl is. So if im lvl 36 i dont really see or barely see it if its a lvl 5 DOW quest.

If its a quest that has follow ups or is a part of a quest chain then it should stay the same no matter what lvl.

    just my 5 cents

I don't like the markers because
    A) I don't find them necessary... I'm "one of them readers" who likes to take in what the NPC is telling me, follow the clues and figure things out for myself.
    B) They're an eye-sore to me adding more clutter to the game world than, I think, is needed.
    C) They have this tendency to make it feel less like a "world" where these NPCs are actual citizens, and more like a "game" where they're simply cardboard cut-out quest dispensers.

That said... I know there are others who find them handy, even necessary (sad as I find it in those cases). And so I could live with them being there..

I would just request an option to toggle them on or off. This way those who like to have them up can have them. Those of us who don't can hide them.

    Everyone's happy.

I'm glad some people agree ^-^ I also think they are too big and appear from too far away, they clutter up my map and screen all the time it's really annoying. Also, the idea of using map cords given via the quest text and other stuff is a great idea! Using the game to find the item, without being told exactly where it is with a big "HEY OVER HERE!" sign, and not using a site would be amazing.

This is why quest markers make the game for 2 year olds.
You should be glad they keep your age group in consideration!

I play the game just fine and pay attention where it needed.
It's so hard to believe when you can't even pay attention to grammar where "it" needed.

Haha - just kidding with you, man. I know everyone loves Grammar Nazi.

I read your OP. I just don't agree with it. I like Quests and Side Quests the way they are. I'd like some more difficult content in the future, but for what it is - it works just fine. Maybe 12 year olds need their hand held. You don't decide who can or can't play, what age group or reading level they are in, or whether or not they should read the quests or just look at the markers. It's not your call. I don't agree. Also, I'm not insulted. I simply follow the markers as I see fit, or I don't if I understand the directions clearly.

Until this thread I never thought about it so I guess I don't find it "stupid" or anything else. It just exists and I exist around it. Sometimes I use it (if I start something but decide to log off and do it days later) and sometimes I don't. It's not a big deal. It's not really worth a thread. It's certainly not worth insulting each other over.
