    Question about crafting quality

I was crafting Aldgoat leather earlier, and quality was jumping 2-4% per touch. One time it jumped from 0 to 34% and I ended up with 100% quality, so it came out HQ Aldgoat Leather. It made me curious, as that happens from time to time, what causes a usually 2% jump in quality to jump 34% from zero? I have tried to figure this out and it makes no sense to me, just seems random. I though it was when the condition switches to good or higher, but that doesn't seem to move any more than normal. If someone knows this answer, please let me know.. Thanks in advance!

on the bottom left corner there will be a message displaying the condition of the material, it varies from poor to normal, good and excellent, when the condition is excellent you will see these big jumps, also note that after excellent condition step you will get a poor condition step

Quality percentage is an upward curve too, which means the higher your quality gets the quicker the total percentage will rise. Combine with an 'Excellent' condition touch and it's not uncommon for it to shoot up. The only downside is you need condition to be 'Good' before it goes to 'Excellent' and you miss out on Tricks of the Trade's 20 CP; usually an acceptable trade off for the kind of jumps you can get. I've had quality rise by over 1000 several times with Advanced Touch and Great Strides on an Excellent, sometimes even higher.

Thank you both for replying, I wasn't exactly sure how that worked, so its excellent condition. Makes sense! Also, I did realize the upward curve part, as the higher you get, the gains get larger too, thanks!

I've never noticed any correlation between Good and Excellent. Excellent can appear without any previous Good, and is certainly not guaranteed to follow a Good. Could you elaborate?

No you don't need a good condition to get excellent. In fact most of my cases it's been normal and straight to excellent. But poor condition is always followed by an excellent condition.

    also,

special conditions such as good and excellent do not follow eachother, you get normal > normal/good/excel > normal(poor if excel) > normal/good/excel > ...

Never once seen an Excellent without first getting to good. Happy to be corrected, and it seems I haven't had much luck! Also I never said it was guaranteed!
