Heavy Allagan Armor < Darksteel/Darklight Gear?

Long time WOw player who has taken the dive into FF14 ARR. Im' currently leveling my MRD to go into a warrior as a tank for some end game content.

However, I am a little confused on the itemization of this game in terms of tier level of items.

So, comparing the Allagan gear (ilvl 90) for warriors, I see that the stats (everything) are actually LESS than Dark steel or Dark light items. Am I missing something?

Would someone please elaborate why Allagan gear is harder to obtain yet inferior in terms of stats?

Darklight gear forbids you from wearing a helm thus Allagan Heavy Armor is superior by allowing you to sport a hat with pimp stats. Essentially all gear that forbids you from wearing another piece of armor usually has inflated stats and defense to compensate that a gear slot is locked out.

To properly compare the stats, you need to compare both the allagan body AND headpiece to the darklight body.
