PS3 Keyboard and the Hotbar

So I have both the PC and PS3 versions and I while I don't mind the PS3 controller for moving around, I'm just too much of a PC gamer to get past the toolbars and using the 1-0 keys. I've attempted to configure a regular keyboard with the PS3 and have been successful up until the hotbar/crossbar setup.

I can configure 1-0 for the crossbar, but the game is absolutely insistent that L2 and R2 need to be pressed first. It would be fine if I could configure CTRL or ALT as those keys, but it doesn't allow it.

Is there something I'm missing with setting up 1-0 to be used just by themselves for the abilities without requiring another key for L2 and R2 to be pressed?

Have you tried to change the Crossbar to Hold or Mixed mode?

Also - how exactly have you've mapped 1 - 0 to crossbar functions?

I haven't tried that specific change so I'll check that tonight. For the key binding, I have 1-4 on the X,O,triangle and square, and then for 5-8 I have it bound to up,down,left,right on the pad. I think that's what most people are trying to do.

Would live to here how you make out. I have been there myself trying to make hotkeys on my keyboard. As posted above set xhotbar to toggle. Then bind controller to numbers, however it never worked, well not as it should. Example: press number 1 for square's xhotbar ability...the ability goes off but my map also opens. Since square is bound to map. Obviously not ideal. What aggravates me is even the ps3 guide on the lodestone even shows the keyboard 1-0 are highlighted as ability shortcuts. Very deceiving. Made me think I could play like a pc player on my ps3, since my computer is just too bad for this game. Looks like if anyone wants to play kb/m they need a pc or maybe the ps4 will get pc's UI options.
