    I made that; crafting classes!

Hello guys, Mui Mao here! But you can just call me Mui ;3

So as much as I enjoy leveling the combat classes in this game, I have to say
I'm REALLY enjoying leveling weaver! Its a nice relaxing break and I still feel like I'm being productive! Not to mention I've been making lots of money even just leveling it.

Plus I get to make myself really cute clothes:

I think the fact that the crafting side of this game is so incredibly expansive sets it apart from other MMOs, at least in my opinion.

What do you guys think? What is your favorite crafting class? Any particularily good experiences with crafting and selling? Share screenshots of that cute gear x3

I totally agree. In all else I have played, crafting/gathering feels more like a chore than fun. In FFXIV:ARR, I actually love doing it. Mining gets a bit tedious at times, but it still shakes up the action by throwing you into areas with agro mobs, so it's a challenge to not be seen. I really like the crafting minigame too. There are awesome moments (hitting an Excellent with Great Strides active!!) and there are gut-wrenching moments as well (seeing an Excellent pop up after using your last bit of CP!!). And not to mention I have been able to outfit my FC with all of their jewelry throughout the lvls gives me a sense of helping out others on top of the fun.

I am a level 40 Goldsmith/32 Leatherworker/27 Alchemist/35 Miner and I can't get enough of it. My goldsmith is catching up to my bards level! But making HQ jewelry for my friends is awesome!! We all vchat while we are playing, and when I surprised them all with mails full of HQ sets of lvl 38-39 jewelry for their Mains, listening to their reactions in real time was amazing.

Ooooh, your a weaver? How's your lightning shard reserve? LOL!! I know a good way to get a ton of all the shards early in the game if your interested. Will keep you from having to mine them for awhile anyway.

i also enjoy making things myself, all my equipment is either from a dungeon, my grand company or self made, and all my self made equipment is high quality.
the only time i literally screamed out in excitement was crafting, i had an hypothesis of how to make use of "innovation" so i was making some silver wristlets that were like 5 levels above me. i tested first on making the silver ingots, even with HQ silver i was having a hard time making the ingots high quality so i used innovation and used careful synthesis until i only needed 1 step, which saved me like 3 steps that i could now use for standard touch and..success, after i got enough HQ ingots i tried the same thing with rings and succeeded then tried with the wristlets and when they came out HQ i yelled out with excitement.

    Hello fellow crafters

I too am enjoying the crafting. I started 2.0 with everything around 43, except alchemy, which was 40 because I hate it. I still hate it, but have managed to get it leveled to about the same as my other crafts.

I had a lot of fun getting goldsmith to 50! My husband mined up a crap-ton of raw gemstones for me and I just sat there for hours turning them into finished gemstones, and trying to see how many I could HQ!

I'm really enjoying going through the crafting log and making one of everything I have the mats for, that extra xp for the first time craft is great!

Armorer is starting to come along nicely, I'm using it to make hq gear for my mid-level gladiator.

Weaving is my favorite so far though, goldsmith a close second. Nymeia the spinner is my patron deity because I planned all along to have weaving as my main craft. I can't wait to craft my AF, the spiffy hat will look so great on my Lala!

I also agree that treating my friends to hq jewelry is fun! Wish I could still repair everyone else's gear though That was always the most satisfying thing for me as a crafter in 1.0. Queueing up in front of a dungeon and examining everyone to offer repairs!

I am struggling a little bit with leatherworking and carpentry, since I hate sending my husband out to gather stacks and stacks of things. (He leveled gathering and cooking, I leveled the rest of the crafts)

Also, someone mentioned lightning shards ^^ Yeah, I would totally love you forever and do the happy Lala dance in your honor if you could help out with easier/faster ways to get shards. My stocks are rapidly depleting, and again, I hate taking time away from my husband's battle classes to send him gathering for me.

Oh! And I managed to make my first starred recipe a few days ago! I crafted 4 aetheryte rings! 2 for me, 2 for my husband. I was so proud of myself

I do have to agree, that the crafting system is very fun and engaging, and I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that enjoys it rather than seeing it as a boring task ^^

Lol, I'm not sure my method for getting a lot of shards would work for you with such high level crafter classes in all of them.

I started off just getting Goldsmith and Leatherworker, and for a while I had all the shards I needed.... riiiight up until about level 30 I started depleting my reserves. I mined them for awhile (selling shards is great money in the auction house too!!) but than I remembered when I started off my crafting classes they give you a ton of shards to begin with.

So basically I just went and got EVERY crafting class in the game and leveled them all up to 5. I believe you still get shards up to the level 10 quest for each craft (could be 5, cant remember) but yeah. Now I have like 1000 of every shard from doing all those quests. I'm sure by the time I hit the level your at with my crafting classes I will be in the same predicament you are in. Other than this method, the only quick way to get them is by gathering them. Haven't messed with botanist, but miner gets 3 wards that increase yield for 3 of the shard types, i imagine botanist gets the other 3 wards. High GP cost, but if you use the ward on a gather site that has increased yield capacity, that boost helps out quite a bit.

I got blacksmith to level 10 during 1.0, but every time I tried picking it up again recently I got kind of frustrated. I didn't have any materials to speak of, and buying them from NPCs and the market boards isn't always cost effective. Also, in 1.0 tradecraft levequests gave me the materials to complete the task, but having to hunt around the shops and market boards to complete a leve now made leveling tedious and expensive. Well, I think I solved most of those problems by unlocking miner. I loaded myself down with ores getting MIN to 12, then switched to BSM yesterday evening to smelt everything down. With the 55 ash lumbers I had (I made a mistake on the market boards a while back) I found I was able to make a lot more things than I thought I could. I ended up getting BSM from 11 to 14 in short order yesterday, and had fun doing it. I made myself a new hammer, which was awesome, but I had to buy a few things that made it much more expensive than getting it from an NPC (if indeed an NPC sold it). I guess I can spread that cost out by making more hammers.

My only issue now is what to do with everything I make. The prices on the market boards are way out of whack. I just shake my head in dismay when I see something for sale for less than what an NPC will buy it for, then everyone complains about not having any money. I'm going to to some looking today (perhaps I can get a fair price for my wares), but if there are a bunch of axes selling for 10 gil I'm just going to hold on to everything and hope the economy stabilizes at something profitable in the future

edit: Seriously, this 1000 character limit sucks. I don't talk a lot in person, but I make up for when I have a keyboard in front of me.

I got weaver & alchemist at 28, and culinarian at 15 for the skill. slowly working my Carpenter who's only 7. my main magic class character is only 33 because I guess I enjoy leveling up and making gear as I go along. Due to this I've taken pretty much only money from quest rewards which is nicer than taking a mediocre armor piece. It's nice to be able to craft HQ stuff for all your main & sub classes

Harvesting can get boring at times but so far Alchemy is the craft that I hate leveling the most. Don't know why but dislike it. I think I have more fun harvesting than anything else in the game. I stopped leveling at 41 DoW to switch to harvesting and crafting. Doubt I do much combat (except for skins or weaving) till I have max level in all 11. Fishing is my favorite thing to do in the game. I love the look of the world and some places are very pretty to sit and cast a line out.
