Have all side quests reset once per class/job

I think the side quest should reset once per class/job that way people leveling other jobs arent forced to fate grind over and over and over again, especially when they dont enjoy that play style at all.

They do have repeatable sidequests. They're called guildleves. They just need to buff the rewards some.

May I suggest that additional quest lines be added and only unlocked when you start your 2nd (3rd, 4th, etc.) job. This would give added backstory/lore/etc. and needed quest exp to level the added job(s) without getting into a boring grind. Admittedly it DOES mean additional work for writers and devs, but if Yoshi's goal of having FFXIV last for 10 years, they WILL be needed to keep people busy and exploring.

End-game content cannot do it all. There needs to be a way to keep those that want to keep adding jobs busy without getting them bored. Yoshi and the devs would be smart not to ignore the lower levels while adding end-game content.

FFXIV seems to be based on multiple swings through the lower levels and keeping them fresh with new and surprising new content and quests would do much in making FFXIV different from other MMOs that just concentrate on adding end-game content

While I'm all for alternative leveling-up methods, I vote against this idea. I love the fact that as I run through map after map, there're no quests anywhere. I've done them all, and that's something I'm proud of having accomplished. You have to take into account that some people do quests because they like doing quests, not just as a method for leveling up. By changing the current system to promote your style of play, you're undoing (or overly complicating) someone else's style of play.

Instead of advocating the ruin of a quest-hunter's play-style, ask for something new and original to be implemented as a leveling alternative.

As I stated, the quests would be unlocked only when you start a new class. They would(and should) be unseen by all others. I.E. ONLY the player leveling the new class would see an exclamation point above quest givers, no one else, thereby allowing you to see no quests while those leveling new classes would.

"Kill" quests should be repeatable. "Retrieve" quests should not be.

But with that in mind, sidequests should not be locked to once-per-character, but instead, once-per-class. So you've gone and slain seven marmots for some guy as a Gladiator. They're a pest, why wouldn't he be just as happy to see you slay seven more as a Thaumaturge? Of course, you've already retrieved the shiny hat that they took a liking to, so you can't fetch that for him again, but he's still happy to see more dead, isn't he?

I'd rather see class/job specific quests. Not the ones you have to do every 5 levels, but rather quests that are triggered at random NPCs simply by having a specific class at a specific level.

All of these are good suggestions...You could always do what I do and don't do the sidequests...I know that I will be changing classes at some point and I save the sidequests for my second class.

I'm starting to do that, nightowl.

Similarly, I was hoping the first-run bonus for guildhests/dungeons would reset on a new class, but alas they do not.
