FFXIV sound does not switch if you switch from speakers to headset and vise versa

In windows or other games, the device recognizes automatically if you switch from speakers to headset and adjusts the sound device to play the sound from the respective output (either speakers or headset)

FFXIV does not seem to be capable of that. It would be a nice feature.

At the moment you have to shut down the game and restart it after you switched speaker<>headset.

Really I am able to use speakers or headset at any given time without restarting the client. How are you trying to switch audio?

When I plug in my headphones my computer automatically recognizes them and switches the default audio device to headphones, yet 14's sound still comes out from the speakers. In GW2, for example, plugging headphones in switches the game's audio to headphones automatically. Is there something I have to change manually?

Exactly that is what happens, and this is only with FFXIV, everything else switches.

Personally I think that they should have an ingame option to switch audio devices. I kinda like listening to pandora or ShoutCast when I'm playing.
