Monk, pugilist with archer skills ?

I am a little disapointed by monk's skills. I used archer cross class skills until now.

    Comparison :
    Monks only skills :
    _ Rockbreaker : cone pot 130
_ Shoulder tackle : charge pot 100 with stun effect
_ fist of fire : passive +5% damage
_ one ilm punch : attack pot 80 dispell one buff
_ Dragon kick : attack pot 150, -10% blunt resistance
    Archer cros class skills :
    _ Straight shot : attack pot 140, +10% crit for 20 sec
_ raging strike : self buff +20% damage for 20 sec, cd 180 sec
_ venomous bite : attack pot 100, plus dot pot 35 for 18 sec
    _ Quelling strike : inimity reduction 15sec
Fist of fire +5% damage is replaced by wind, movement speed buff.

I believe that movement speed matters for close contact dps. I do not know the maths behind, but +10% crit does not seem that bad in comparison to the 5% damage. The dots seems quite efficient at level 36. The only advantage of monk would be dragon kick. Is that skill good enough to replace archer skills ?

In theory if you ran a group with another MNK to keep up Dragon Kick debuff, then PGL with Archer cross-skills would be beastly on single target fights.. loosing Fists of Fire would be more than made up by Archer crit buff, dot and cooldowns.

But SE insists on locking PGL out of using MNK gear, so that sadly won't happen for now.

I remember someone saying just equipping a job provides a large stat boost. I haven't tested that yet though. If it doesn't, I'm fairly certain PGL will out-dps monk without losing a significant amount of utility. I would probably use fists of earth on most fights, the MS from wind is so minor it will rarely matter. I believe ilvl 90 allagan gear can be used by both monk and PGL, so if we can manage a full set, PGL should become viable if not superior. Also worth noting, in addition to the fantastic archer skills, PGL can get instant cast rez combo. That can be invaluable to a group.

    1) 10% crit is NOT as good as 5% damage. FoF is a passive while Straight Shot needs to be applied. 140 potency is not horrible but there are more damaging things you can do with that global.
    2) Venomous Bite is weaker than Fracture. You DO NOT get 18 sec, that trait is exclusive to Archers. Monks already have a ton of abilities, they really don't need another one in their rotation.
    3) Raging Strikes is the biggest advantage Pugilist have over Monks in the DPS department. However, Raging Strikes sits on a massive 180 sec cooldown, making it far inferior to "Blood for Blood." Pugilist can get both but the point is, Raging Strikes is a great buff but not THAT great. You can use both for a "burst" period but your overall damage is not as good as Monks.
    4) Have not tested "Blunt Resistance" but if it is a straight 10% damage increase, than Dragon Kick is better than both Straight Shot and Raging Strikes for consistent DPS.
    5) The stats boost from Monk alone is probably enough to pull it ahead.
