Need, Greed, Pass....what?

Can everyone pass? If so then what? What if more than one person chooses need?

If everyone passes, the item is lost forever.

Yeah essentially need the item if you can use it as better gear, greedy if you plan to sell it for money or trade it, and pass if you don't want it.

It's worth noting that not every item that drops in a dungeon is automatically bound to you. Greens can generally be sold. If you greed roll a green and win it, it will not be bound and can be sold. However, rolling NEED on that same item will instantly bind it to you, to prevent people from rolling need just to sell it.

Is there only one item per chest? If I take it am I taking it from everyone? Can more than one person use greed? Can everyone pass? If so then what? What if more than one person chooses need?

1. In the Loot notification box you see how many items is there - usually one.
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes
5. Don't know - but that most likely never happens, the items most likely remains unclaimed.
6. The one with better roll will get it.

Thanks guys, I was just concerned I might be pissing people off with "Need" or "Greed."

I like that it is a roll system. Makes me feel less greedy!

Need - You can only Need something if it's for your class.

Greed- You only want it, but don't necessarily need it. Need comes before Greed, so if you roll Greed and someone rolls Need, then your roll for Greed will mean nothing, even if you rolled higher than the Need. Of course, if no one rolls Need, then those with the higher Greed roll will take the item.

Pass - You pass on the item.

If everyone passes or the winning person already has that Unique item in their inventory, it poofs, ie disappears. disappointingly.

Actually you can't even roll on a Unique item, need or greed, if you already have it in your inventory, though it doesn't check to see if your Retainer's have it in theirs, so you can technically have three copies of the same unique item by having one in your main inventory and both retainers.
