DumbQ: How to PM or otherwise contact non-friends?

I have met a few people in dungeons that I'd like to meet up with again - good players, ones who did not run ahead to get the loot, provided great support, etc. However, people tend to leave quickly after the dungeon is over, without time for more than a "gj" or "gg"...

Also, I've been looking at FCs, and wanted to try to contact the founder of one to ask about applying for admission.

I did not see a PM function on here, but even so, the character name is not necessarily the Loadstone login name.

How can we message someone we're not friends with, but only know the character name?

Are these people on your server? If not you can't contact them at all. But you can follow their profile on the lodestone

Hmm, well, I think the FC founder is on my server since his FC is founded out of the same server (Adamantoise) ... right?

For the "met in dungeon" characters, I assume they are part of the same server since they showed up in the dungeon - but then I read someone's off-hand comment that participants in multi-user dungeons might come from different servers, so I don't really know.

Assuming they were on the same server, is there a way to message them without first being friends?

DF is cross server so most will be from a different server and you probably will not meet them again. Contacting them is as far as i know not possible. But people from your server is another thing, you can search them ingame or on the lodestone and /tell them ingame. Moogle mails can only be send to friends to avoid spam. You can search FC's on lodestone and find all the info you need.

So I guess when I tried to /tell them and got an error, that meant they were on a different world? I just assumed they had signed off. There was something like "could not contact" so it was not clear they were on a different server. It seemed like I got the same response when I tried to /tell a friend that was offline. Sadness.

RE the FC part of Loadstone, the FC I'm looking at (Adamantoise Fairy Tail) says it is for beginners, but I cannot find a way to contact them to apply. Definitely feeling dumb there. But I'll try '/tell'ing their founder an see if I can catch them on-line.
