Main Story Quest AND Changing Main Class

Simple stupid question I'm asking myself but it is said that a character can endorse all classes BUT now the concrete problem is how to change the main story quest if I changed virtually my main class ?

Let me explain .. I started as an healer (CNJ) but soon saw that I prefer to play a tank MRD. I leveled up my main Healer CNJ up to lvl 18 but now I wanted to change my main class to a MRD. Problem I do not get a new main story quest but class quest it's ok.


But now the problem is that since my main story quest was for the CNJ can i do these quest line with my MRD (without witching to CNJ ) ??

Furthermore the problem is that the main story quest also guides you through the leveling but now as MRD without a main scenario it is hard to find quest to progress til lv 50 ..

What am I doing wrong? Simple question how to get a NEW main story quest (Scenario) .. ?

All quests minus levequests and dungeons and battlefield instances are a one and done deal so basically your storyline progress is saved and will be there once you ding 18 on MRD to pick up where you left off. Naturally this means for every subsequent class you level there is less and less quest exp to use. It's good though that you figured out your main class relatively early. I leveled both Arcanist and GLD to lvl 30ish before i decided to focus on Arcanist/SMN.

You're main source of exp for your MRD are now FATEs and Hunting Logs and Levequests and Dungeons but since MRD has some AoE abilities FATEs are the way to go for you since you get more exp the more mobs you hit.

I did something similar, starting off as CNJ and switching to ACN at lvl20. What I ended up doing was traveling to another area and used a combination of FATES, hunting logs, and small quest hubs (the lvl 10+ hubs will have their own quest chains if you haven't done them yet) to get my ACN to 20 and have them pick up my story quest line.

If you want to run the Limsa Lominsa or Ul'dah storylines, there is no way except to make a new character with a class starting in those cities.

Guys thanks a lot for your answers and this was exactly my understanding of the main scenario but was not sure and indeed this was also what I was doing but takes far more long to pex for the moment .. So the main scenario sticks to the character and NOT to its main class, i.e. I will be able to do my main scenario with my MRD once I hit lv 18 with my MRD correct ? ..

Yes the main story resumes once the class you are currently on (in your case MRD) reaches the appropriate level.

That can be done fast to get to 18 with your hunting log, leves/fates and once 15 Tanking in dungeons for the gear as you will have fast queues in Duty Finder if you don't have a group already.
