    Summoner vs. Scholar

I recently attained my summoner job class and so far have been a little underwhelmed. I really had high hopes that Ifrit was gonna be a badass, and lay the smack down on some people. He seems fairly slow moving, and a majority of the time he cant hold any aggro. Thus resulting in me using carbuncles again. Its a bit disappointing.

So my question arrives at Scholar, which I am considering unlocking. I am not too fond of playing a healing role, but I do have a friend that plays a tank and I feel like we would get in dungeons instantly. However, aside from dungeons I don't always play with him.

So what kind of Damage is the Scholar capable of? How difficult are quests, especially the solo style story quests? I can handle playing healer when we roll through dungeons, but is the game going to gimp me outside of dungeons? I really don't want to be shoved into a situation where I am forced to party with people to complete any battle quests.

Another question I have. I have pumped all of my bonus stat points into INT.. if I switch classes or jobs, will I be able to reassign those points? It seems like there should be a way, the game claims you can be every class with one character.

    Here's some info about SCH.

And yes, they don't share attributes I believe.
Pretty much every class is easy to solo in this game, even the CNJ/WHM.
You will still be throwing DoT's.
Eos is your main healing fairy in dungeons and Selene is better for solo PvE and all but still good in runs
since she seems useful support stuff said in the link I put. But I hear Selene is pretty useless so not idea there.
Personally sounds more fun than my WHM. -.-

for solo I would not use SCH at all
I have SMR but i find myself using ACN for solo
Because carby is cute and he is good tank to match with my attacker chocobo and me for dots and healing

Scholar and Summoner do share their bonus points attributes.
Look into the Healer section of the forum you will have some discussion about how to distribute your stats.

And you can use SCH for solo (heals and DoTs ticking), but it is easier to have ACN for pet tanking for you or SMN once you get Titan Egi.

There's no reason to ever go back to ACN while soloing. You can use carbuncle as SMN until you learn titan. SMN also comes with significant stat boosts which will only make you kill faster. To OP: Ifrit is a DD not a tank, use your topaz/titan for soloing if mobs hit you too hard.

I'm running as a level 50 SMN and SCH. It depends on the mood I'm in. But if you are going to worry about stats if you switch to SCH, your cleric stance will take care of that and switch your Mind and Intel.

I never had any problems soloing as Scholar, using Cleric Stance you'll only have a bit less DPS then a Summoner because you have access to Areo instead of an attack pet, and most solo mobs don't last long enough to bother using a second fester or Enkindle on, and your fairy pet can easily keep you healed through any damage a monster or two can do.
