How to Succeed in a Tough Gladiator Story Mission

I have had trouble with a main Story line quest for Gladiator, where you have to assist Myrna the Guild leader and a small group of other Guild members in a tough battle with a bunch of baddies and some mages that show up and burn up you and anything else standing. It seems pretty overlevel, i leveled up to 24 and still got beat no matter what I have tried.

You have to target anyone to start, and then she asks you to target the Mages, all of which i did while trying to keep the team healthy with cross over skills, but when the fire throwing mages appear, there is no time to DPS any of them, and First Sword was in trouble and then dead by then, Does anyone have advice about this battle as it is am important one and adds more access to the story ahead. I am equipped up as best i can, tho i think i can add some higher level stuff most of it is 20 or around that.

I was hesitant to use the Flash or aggro causing stuff too much as it would end up with me dead and not be much help to the team but maybe that is my main mistake.

anyway, advice welcome if you have time and know what i am talking about. Those mages seem pretty tough, and they dont seem to want to die very fast.

I had trouble with this mission too. The damage from the mages is huge.

Having a few levels of conjurer helped (for the Cure skill), as you can spam it, unlike with items.

Also, I ran away to heal and buff again before fighting the second set of mages.

It's really just about keeping your health as high as possible while fighting, as the mages can kill you in two hits.

As sad as it is, dont be afraid to let the chowder allies die.

Go crazy style on the initial group. When the conjurers come, get rid of them asap. If you dont youll never get any other npc down.

When the mages come, your forces should overwhelm them. Make sure to pull one away with you and tank him. Then hi potion up and get the next one.

OK, i was trying to keep all of "my" team alive and getting dead in the process. And those flame mages ate me for lunch time and time again. I was slow getting to the conjurers last time and that made me weak for the Flame boys. thanks again!! much appreciate the suggestions, this one has had me stumped.

Yes, to succeed in the final GLA class quest, it is imperative you get to Mylla ASAP. Then, once you're up on the bridge with her, concentrate on the roegadyn CNJ (unlike the other mobs he has a name, which eludes me at the moment). He'll probably knock you back with Fluid Aura, and will heal himself and the other mobs with Cure, but keep up the heat on him (Shield Bash is perfect for this). Then, once he's down, takeout the other CNJs and THMs immediately - this is where I always fell, as the mobs were clustered together so much, it was impossible to tell who from who.

Once the THMs and CNJs are dead, you can start to breathe a little easier, as the other mobs are annoying but nothing without their backup. Towards the end of the fight a named laalfell THM will appear on the stairs towards Gridania, and if you take too long, he will summon an ogre, but if you're quick enough you can kill him before he even gets a chance to summon his pet. Not to mention the ogre is a punk anyway and can be soloed easily enough.

But basically it comes down to taking out the meddlesome mages right away at the start to survive this fight.

thank you for this advice, i was referring to the level 24 fight north of Scorpion Crossing but this will be very useful when i get there too, i can see they have crafted some tough fights in our class quests, the details are really helpful.

Oh that one was tough towards the end. The key is to stun her before she finishes casting Hundred Moves. I was able to beat her on my first try with 17 HP remaining lol.

Yeah for the group fights, heal your allies from time to time. In the Silver Bazaar one (Lv20 GLD quest), a single heal from you - no matter how weak - I find usually heals any of the novice or veteran GLD allies to full health. In the Highbridge one (Lv30 GLD quest), I find that if you stay near Mylla she'll give you 600+ Cure heals. She's self-sustainable too, so focus on the mages.
