Player Housing Idea/FC housing (Airship)

May have been said before, if so I do apologize.

Airships are part of the main story and a great way to handle player housing! We'll talk first about single player housing.

I like to think of the airship from FF7. It had stables where you could see your chocobo and interact with it. So let's bring that up first.

Chocobo interaction within your player housing! Chocobo is designed to be sort of your partner in crime once you are able to summon him. I feel like this brings that sort of bond out more and lets you have more ways to interact/alter/play with your sidekick!

Secondly, you could have your quarters. This would be simple like the inn room. Allowing customization options specifically for the captain. Part of customization though could be to include the exterior. Make the ship your own. Just like chocobo barding, simply cosmetic.

To further this customization though, I think anchoring your ship in a zone (a simple background swap, like in creation) Coerthas being snow covered with dragons flying about, the ocean if near Limsa, etc.

Obviously the ship should cost quite a bit and this is where i bring up FC ships.


I think taking some of the above points and combining them together could make an amazing FC housing!

-FC has to "buy" the airship
-FC has unique airship styles (with logo branding if interested)
-FC chocobo stables could maybe have 4 stables and randomly shows players in the area 4 random FC member choco's. Making it appear as if the stables were in use.
-FC could hire staff, like a mender
-FC could unlock "rooms" like a barracks, strategy room, etc. As the ship grows, random NPCs could be hired (cosmetic)

This allows your FC to have sort of a "community" area to congregate.

Last, in relation to both versions of the idea, I think they should have their own "Return" spell. so it doesn't become the only place you go. If it was, you'd see very few players in the city. Perhaps a 30m cd

That's going to take an awful lot of additional memory to the game. Adding in an air map or overworld map of Eorzea O.O. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for creative ideas. Yours sounds awesome, just that it will remain in our dreams... for now that is. ^__^

Ah you misunderstand. These will not be viewable from the ground. They'll be instances. Just like solo duties. So the overworlds will take no strain.

basically, Imagine a moderately sized bubble around the ship itself. Basically it's the Waking sands hideout, just with a skybox

Pretty good idea. It would help members and founders become more involved in their FC and increase community. Very cool.

I had an idea while washing my dishes. Different types of personal airships could be offered and not all of them have to be full on airships complete with housing and stables and the like. Final Fantasy has had small airships for a while. Smaller ships, like personal transports or little flitters and fighters could be offered. Also you could add a new craft, Shipwright, to the system so players could build their own. And I'm not talking a simple synthesis either. You would actually have to build all the separate parts and you would need a different craft to build each one. Like you would need to be a certain lvl Carpenter to build the frame, a certain lvl Blacksmith to build the skin, and a certain lvl Armorer to lay it on the frame. Make it a big to huge project depending on the design.
