Mercing is against ToS in FFXI now, people get actively banned for FC parties. I wouldn't be surprised if this transfered to FFXIV at some point.

False. Stop spreading misinformation. FC merc services are still around in FFXI. It was pretty clearly stated that what they would be targeting are the people who were spamming the spots for sale in the cities. There are two reasons you don't see much of this anymore in FFXI.

1) There are fewer people playing since the release of FFXIV.

2) In an 11 year old game where this kind of speed leveling has been an option for years there really aren't many people left who need it.

(For those unfamiliar with FFXI over the last couple of years "FC" refers to a method of speed leveling where a very small group of characters (generally 2-3) can speed level the rest of an alliance (18 people) from level 30 to level 99 in 10 - 12 hours (or less).)

My FFXI LS leader was running FC alliance services as recently as 2 weeks ago.

As long as you don't turn around and RMT the profits from your merc service it is not against the ToS (at least in FFXI) and never has been going all the way back to the days of Sky Gods.

If you said that a battle service to make their progress go faster is wrong, because it reduce subscription time, then it is wrong for crafter service to supply battle gears which lead to their progress go faster too. Everybody should craft everything themselves then? because anything that shorten their time is wrong?

Think of it this way. Someone want to play a main crafter route, someone want to play a main battle route. If you can buy gear from crafter, then crafter shall buy back battle service too. This is called a trade of service. You provide somebody this service they need, while he provide you a service you need.

It is NOT illegal and should not be bannable. This is very common in FFXI. It's usually referred to as a mercenary LS.

SE will intervene when RMT start mercing HM wins or when "legit" players start RMTing their proceeds. Same happened in FFXI with Fel Cleave power leveling.

Why is it you latch onto Prostitution and Assassinations. The sale of sex for money is illegal in most countries, murder let alone conspiring to commit any crime is against the law in almost all countries.

If you are going to pick something to backup your statement why not try something that hasn't been made illegal and a jail able offense that some places will still outright execute you over.

For example, Gilselling is a service that is in a grey area. It is not permitted by most mmo companies and the courts have both fought for and against the purchase of Virtual money.

Mercing is still legal and not against the Terms of Service in FFXI at least I can not find it mentioned with in and, I still have friends mercing with FCs and equipment in FFXI on Unicorn. In fact my linkshell is still going strong in the merc buisness.

If someone wants to sell a service IN game...with currency...IN GAME...then No. nothing wrong with it.
If you are lazy, or dont have friends to help you...there is nothing wrong with paying for help. I think its sad...cause you could just keep trying for free.

But it is role playing. If you can't fix a pipe in real life...you hire someone. It uses in game mechanics...not real world transactions. if they SPAM the sale of it...then spam should be limited. I dont think ANYONE should be able to spam 100 messages over and over.

Selling runs in game for gil isn't RMT. If you ban someone for offering their services to get you a win, you might as well ban people for offering their services to craft or a meld you an item.

This is a very old way to make gil. Those that get to the top and have things on farm sell runs to people who might never get them or don't want to spend the time farming to get there. Special Mounts, Raid gear..In my hardcore days I did this in several games. I'll never be that close to the top again but I can't fault people for doing it.

Just like how people used to shout for teleporting services in FF11. In game service with in game currency, I absolutely see no problem with it at all...
