I think like any service, it should be possible to change your appearance and name just the same but after exchanging something like gil, GC seals or money. I can see this "Name-change" being abused and used for really wrong reasons.

Just apply to those players who completed GC quest and exchange GC seals after gaining a curtain rank. (Preferably private 1st class)

Even if names can change, a character's account can't. Furthermore, for any other MMO I've played where you could change your name, that change followed through for guild rosters, friend's lists, just about anywhere a character's name could appear (other than "maker's marks" on crafted gear -- those usually just got wiped). I'm sure any name-change mechanic here would have to include the same sort of hooks back to accounts for any character name change. That would address concerns about slimy people who would think they could get away scott-free by changing all they appeared to be.

yes pls. i thought it would be fun to play as a female character but i cant with everyone asking me if im an actual girl. when i played as a male nobody would ever ask anything, it gets old. i was very excited about fantasia but theres no point in using it if i have to stay as a female character...

To take an example from WoW, I think name-change alone was $10 and their race-change feature includes an optional name-change for $25 total (server transfer is $25 and includes a forced named change if the name is taken). But names are an important part of both the player and characters' identity... it's what people will call you barring more knowledge, what people will hate you by, and of course gender/roleplay reasons. It's not something you should be able to change on a whim (WoW has a 3-day lockout) so the cost should be substantial to dissuade that. Would be nice if using a Phantasia flagged you for a name change though, apart from any separate name service.

It's nice that name changes don't affect your FL/BL, but damn if there is one big feature MMOs take forever to implement (if at all), it's account-wide friendlist/blacklists.

I really wish they would add this. I've been a Taru/Lalafell since Final Fantasy XI and I'm starting to grow out of it. My name, however, doesn't really fit anything BUT a small race, really. I'd love to change my race AND my name. I could make an alt but I've simply put too much time and effort on this character to be willing to concentrate on a whole new on.

Yes and signed. I created a character just to get onto the server when the game was busy and everytime I tried to choose a username it would time out. Finally got this one and stuck with it but Damnit I want to be Holy Knight already and I am NOT leveling conjurer to 34 again for stoneskin.
