For my part, no one really types my character's full name anymore. I've gotten so used to "Ling", for short, that cut scenes seem weird to me when the full is said. I still love the sound of my first name, but the decision to change includes people snarling over the literal definition of lingerie over it simply being a word used as a name.

Anywho, Square Enix, if there is any additional information a dev can give us on the name change service, that would be greatly appreciated. With the cash shop here now, implementing a single character name change for an additional fee would greatly benefit the player base, while filling up your pocket with money :P

I'm just going to drop this in here, for all you naysayers who are implying that people would use this as a griefing tool, first of all if a system like this were implimented SE would have to be incredibly ignorant to implement it without keeping a history for GM purposes, So no people wouldn't be able to just get away with anything they wanted.

I have more faith in SE than that, They think about these things before they implement them.

And on top of that, if people are so worried about keeping track of people they dont like, what does that say?

Indeed! All I could find was a bit of a summary of the impromptu Q & A, which really did just say, "Players will soon be allowed to change their characters’ names." I shall keep waiting I suppose...

needs to have a string/yarn ball attachment so we can see who you were before you changed your name. else there will be people running off with the guild bank and changing their names and appearance

I will add my name to the list here. Most games now allow you to change you characters name for a fee. Sometimes I just get tired of the name I chose and would like to change it to one that suits me. I would gladly pay for that service. Please consider this option SE. And you have my thanks.

I named my character based on a TRPG character I used to play. Now that I know more about FF XIV's lore and came to love it, I wish to change it to a more lore-friendly name.
Yes this decision was inspired purely by how Cocobusi was such a cutie. But that's beside the point.
