For added hilarity, the example image they give for the Fantasia potion has someone changing from a male to a female character, which you wouldn't want to do if you couldn't also change your name to something appropriate to the gender.

They need to support a global ID as well as local then. Honestly they need this anyway to make b-listing spammers easier.
