they have already stated some time ago that they were going to add the option to change your character name. it's just a matter of time.

also i only read a few pages. but another good use for name changing is when people use names like i got. when you use a non-original name like something from a TV show or anime. your character appearance customization options are limited. you always want to theme your character after the TV character.

Because I have characters I'd like to recustomize, but then their names wouldn't fit at all.

I actually quit playing for a few months 'cause I was so unhappy with my character, and couldn't re-customise it for this reason!

I wish they'd at least give us an official response... :<

Let's just say a guy begins to hack, you catch him and he knows hes been caught and decides to change his name.

A person rips off a free company for everything and changes name.

cause if this is instant name changing then I can see the abuse of this name changing card.

This argument is dumb. A name change is not a get out of jail free card. In every other game where this is a thing, friends and blacklists remain even after the name is changed.

If an account gets phished by gold farmers, they're not going to bother wasting money changing names, they just grind out as much money as fast as possible to transfer before they're caught.

People who change their name to try to escape a rep, meanwhile, always get outed sooner or later.

How prevalent do you think malicious hacking is in this game? Phishers just get into your account to steal your gil and get out. They don't "mess around with your Free Company" and then server change where they can do it all over again. How many people have legitimate uses for a name change versus the people who would somehow "abuse" it when hacking? Also customer service has changed from 10 years ago and they can restore lost gil and items when hacking has been found, I don't know if you realize this.

Just because a car can be used to run over people on a sidewalk doesn't mean that we should ban people from driving cars ever!!!

You people come in here with the same dumb arguments and every time other people disprove it, some with more experience in game design, you just ignore them and go NANANANA CAN'T HEAR YOU.

Why are you so stuck on letting good people suffer just because of a few bad ones? Do you seriously only care about yourself? Some are deeply unhappy about their names, but you just go "lol your fault suck it up babies" all the while "wah I'm scared the big bad trolls will change their name and I won't be able to hate them forever". The bad ones don't even get anything substantial out of it. Blacklists won't disappear. Logs of their potential thefts, phishing, hacking, whatever, also don't disappear.

The only person that name changes affect are the people who desire them, and you're giving them all the middle finger by saying they don't have a right to feel comfortable / happy with their own toon - mature, considering you keep claiming this is for the sake of justice or some such nonsense.
