I just submitted an inquiry to SE. Let's hope this doesn't take forever...

I am trying to renew the subscription on my second account (username: XXXXXX // email: XXXXX@XXXX.com) using the same credit card that I have used to pay for this account. However, I am receiving 401/601 errors when I attempt to do this. I know that you say that these errors mean that there is an issue with my credit card company. I called them and confirmed that there is NO issue, and my card can accept payment just fine. Also, if there were an error with my credit card, then I wouldn't have been able to renew my subscription on THIS account.

Since I wasn't able to renew my subscription on my second account with my credit card, I tried to use an Ultimate Game Card and pay using the Crysta method. I used the same credit card which was said had problems to buy an Ultimate Game Card from Walmart.com. This proves that there was no error with my credit card. I then tried to use that game card on your website, but it was also declined.

I think there is an on-going issue with your companies payment methods. There is a very long thread on the official forums (http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...1-and-601)that started over 2 weeks ago and is still accruing hits today. The moderator starts by outlining issues with the credit card companies, and stating that the issue could be with entering the credit card information incorrectly. This is obviously not the case because several users (myself included) have recieved $1.00 authorizations on our credit card statements. Also, our cards companies confirm there is no issue, and we can use our cards to buy other products from other websites. This issue is further compounded by the fact that Square-Enix is refusing payment from companies such as PayPal and UltimatePay.

Please look into this issue further. Square-Enix is losing a large number of customers to poor customer service in this regard.

We should figure out what the people getting this error have in common. From what I've skimmed, people that seem to have this problem are using mostly legacy accounts? I myself used a vanilla FF XIV key to activate Realm Reborn. So I didn't get the legacy status but a completely new service account. I just had my friend purchase game time, it worked perfectly on his account but the same credit card gave error 401 on my account. So both my card and my friend's card give 401 on my account.

We do not have Legacy accounts and had the billing issue. So it is not limited to Legacy accounts.

Basically I think the problem is two things (1) they need to tell us what the error is and tell us what the block period is, and in fact don't put up ridiculous blocks in the first place after only 1 error, but instead they don't tell us, people have an error on the first try, people block themselves without knowing it, and keep trying, and extend the block period still with no clue how long they are blocked (2) they have a lot of quirks in their system that are causing errors and need to fix them - most likely something they need to fix between themselves and Global Collect - they need to make sure they are transmitting the correct information needed to process the transactions and that they are not rejecting things for wrong reasons

I have 2 accounts, one of them the region was set to Guam, the other United States.

Guam Account - no crysta option, 401/601 for everything...

United States account - no problems, registered through crysta via Paypal because my CC is likely blocked from trying on my Guam account...

so, this obviously is an error of some sort on the SE side but we're the ones suffering and trying to figure it out.

I'm tempted to just give up on SE support, because they're horrible and virtually useless, and just buy a 3rd copy of the game and start all over with what I've learned about registering the region.

I put in a ticket to try and get the region changed, or maybe get the product ID registered to another account so I don't have to buy the game again, but I'm not holding my breath in hopes of a change at SE support.

At the very least they should have changed the "go back and try again" error to something warning the user that in their infinite stupidity, the retards at SE decided it's a good idea to refuse to be paid by their customers for a whole damn month.

What kind of drooling moron do you have to be to be screwing over your own customers like that. How on earth do these people even have jobs?

Hi guys, I'm also having issues trying to renew with my debit card.

Thursday was the last day of my free trial. Just before midnight I filled the form with my card info in the mog station, subscribing for a month. I think I did a mistake here, signing for a Visa when my card is actually a Visa Electron. However I received a confirmation mail from SE:

"This e-mail has been sent to inform you that payment for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn has been successfully completed for your account"

I went to bed. Friday morning a new email from SE:

"An error occurred when processing payment for FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. As a result, automatic renewal has been suspended for your account"

So I tried a second time on the mog station, choosing the right option for my card, and i got error 401. As a third and last attempt a bit later, I updated the card info in the SE account management page, but nothing happened.

I checked my card balance, they didn't charge anything except for the 3,00 € for verification (Italian player here ^^). Then I decided to come here and found this informative thread.

I didn't make new attempts since Friday, and I didn't get any new email from SE either. No legacy player, and no issues for my friends using the same kind of debit card, if that matters... Tonight (Saturday) once I'm back home I'll try again and I'll let you know.

    Update:
I tried again a few times after the 24hours: same 401 errors on mog station. I decided to buy crysta from SE management account page: transaction went well the first try. But while filling the CC info for crysta I did something different from my previous attempts: I used spaces among the 4digit clusters (XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX instead of XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX). I know it sounds silly, but could this be a cause of issues?

@Bleizahr: You can try to purchase game time cards for EU accounts (e.g. http://www.game.co.uk/en/final-fanta...imecard-244771 - I don't know this store, it's just one of many that comes up on Google), if CC doesn't work.
