Agent Jordan R: Hello. If you are receiving an error 601, 406, or error 401 when attempting to update your payment method, then there is an issue where the financial institution is declining the authorization attempt.

Agent Jordan R: Unfortunately as SQUARE ENIX is not the financial institution, we are not provided with any information as to why the authorization was declined, only that it was.

Agent Jordan R: Unfortunately, the billing system is a fully-automated system. There is no person or persons overseeing the transactions and manually choosing which cards to decline. But once an error 401/406/601 is given, a 24 hour hold is placed on the account and any further attempts for payment will automatically get declined by the billing system. At this point, we can only advise to wait 24 FULL hours and try again tomorrow, preferably using a different browser and/or PC. Unfortunately, there is nobody in the Support Center with manual controls to the automated billing system and we do not possess the proper tools to bypass these errors. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this may be causing you, but unfortunately, we can only provide the suggestion to please remain patient and try again in 24 hours.
Is what I got back from SE support. Which is pathetic really....because I was on the phone with my bank 10 minutes prior to this communication and they told me that there were no rejected payments just the several $1.15 transactions that were authorized. So both sides are saying nothing's wrong on their end. (I've also already waited 24 hours from when I started having this problem yesterday, but what will hurt with trying again.)

I think the biggest pressing issue is that I'm being told there isn't a single human who monitors the billing/payment processor (which kinda makes sense), or is able to see decline information (which doesn't make any sense). Between my bank and square enix I'm more inclined to believe the problem is with SE.

In regards to the dollar charges.
Agent Jordan R: The fees you are referring to is not a fee but a pre-authorization hold to verify funds are available on the account. The hold is $1.00 but will fall off the account after a few days. We apologize for the confusion this may have caused.
If it's true that the 24 hour wait periods stack then I need to wait two weeks before trying again (the twelve 1 dollar charges on my card). Which is also something I was not told by the agent before the chat was closed.
