Hey guys, they added the Crysta option for me too. You should try that.
And guess what ? Payed Crysta with my credit card (who was blocked earlier, lol)
A tip for people. If using Firefox swap to IE it actually works better for some of SE stuff.
I'm ready to give up and walk away from this game forever. I have tried registering CC through both UltimatePay and GlobalCollect, tried using a PayPal account with enough funds in it, even bought an Ultimate Game Card and my code was declined. I have literally exhausted all possible payment methods and wasted hours trying to give my money to Square/Enix. I've checked that my personal information matches what my credit card is registered as, I've checked for holds on my credit card account. I can't get ahold of customer service for any help. I have wasted too much time. It doesn't matter how much I may like the game, I can't recommend it to anyone...
Okay, I'm going to post with my epic tale of paying, in case someone else comes across this and is in a similar situation.
Here is my setup: I have a NA account, but recently moved to Japan, so I'm out of a Japanese IP address.
1) I just tried renewing with my US credit card. Errors each time. Called my bank back in the US and verified that my account was open.
2) Tried buying Crysta with PayPal. Left region as Japan. Failure. Changed region to USA. Failure.
3) Verified my PayPal account with my more commonly used email account and new phone number (Japanese phone number) as well as a families number in the US (in case they needed to verify something, I don't know - it was a cover all bases thing). Tried again. Failure.
4) Purchased a time card here in Japan, for use with my NA account. THIS DOES NO WORK, if anyone comes across this post. For EU/Japanese accounts, there is an option to use time cards, BUT IT IS DISABLED FOR NA ACCOUNTS. You cannot use a prepaid time card with US/North American accounts.
I could not find this via Google, so that's why I'm reiterating it here. There used to be a Knowledge Base article about it, but they just recently deleted it (along with my ticket pointing it out, sorry, so I can't copy-paste it here to show you all what finally explained it for me)
If you are able to use a time card, Mog Station will show you that option as a button, illustrated in this image:
http://imgur.com/I4rqTz8
Otherwise, nope. No way to use a time card at all.
5) I logged into a friends VPN, thinking it was the region IP coming from. I don't think that mattered at all, but I tried it. All still a fail, and probably flagged my account, now that I think about it.
6) Went online to purchase a digital Ultimate Game Card. After a fight, the purchase via PayPal on a different site was successful, so I have a digital code for $15.
However, changing that Ultimate Game Card to Crysta was a no go. I kept receiving the same ambiguous error about it not processing. I could enter the card code, and it would indeed show that it was valued at $15, and would change to 1,500 Crysta. It was just when I clicked to proceed it failed.
I have called The Ultimate Game people (PaySpan) at 650 432-3200 but they were closed for the day and could not help. I gather from other posts that they can easily change it over to Crysta, but I will report back on that when it actually happens. Also, this phone number was impossible to find, so I'm reiterating it here again: the customer service number for Ultimate Pay/ Pay Span/ Ultimate Game Card is 650 432-3200 if you need to get in touch with them.
7) I tried on my iPhone. Just thought it might be worth it. Failed again.
8) Went out and had a few drinks. This was the first success all day.
9) Next day: Put a clean install of FireFox on a thumb drive and ran it from there. I made sure no AdBlock was running, and I also enabled pop ups and all that jazz, allowed all cookies, tracking - you name it.
Options -> Privacy -> (select) Do not tell sites anything about my tracking preferences
Options -> Content -> (uncheck) Block pop-up windows
I have no idea if this matters at all, I just got uber paranoid.
Plugged in my credit card info again, and got the error 601. Again. However, just like this:
I clicked the "back" button right below the message (not the browser!) and it sent me to a confirmation screen. I just stared blankly for a minute, double checked with logging in, and am listening to the background music in Ul'dah at the moment. All good, appears my account is active again.
What I selected (if it matters, again, I have absolutely no idea what works and what doesn't, and I don't think they do, either)
- Entry account (1 character/world)
- 30 day
- Paid with CC (one that I had tried yesterday as well)
... I don't know. But it worked. I hope this long wall of text might help others, especially considering I could find snippets of information via Google, but nothing about a lot of these issues. Just hope this saves someone else a frustrating time. I'll report back on having Ultimate Pay convert my card to Crysta and if that can be a success coming from Japan with a North American account.
Keep me updated about the game card, I'm sitting on a game card and can't seem to get through the PlaySpan customer service number and my codes aren't working. Don't want to have wasted $20 for a card... BTW I'm in South Korea, with a US account, went through a similar process (including successful drinks lol).... I don't know. But it worked. I also live in South Korea. Here is what I did and it magically worked for me but I had not touch this game or logged in one week into my SE account. To put it short this must of been luck.Keep me updated about the game card, I'm sitting on a game card and can't seem to get through the PlaySpan customer service number and my codes aren't working. I am using Windows 8 Pro 64bit and browser is CyberFox 25.0.
- I logged into SE Account
- Clicked on Add Crysta
- Click on whatever value you want to pay. I chose the 1000 Cyrsta option
- Click on Ultimate Pay
- Click the tab with the credit card/debit card info
- Input your CC/DB information
- Once you click on Next, it should pop up a window of your billing address. My bank billing address is my APO. I made sure It was exact.<--- This is the important part, make sure your billing address matches, whether APO or U.S. or whatever country your from matches every field. I was using a Korean IP address and no VPNs or Proxys. I hit next and miraculously it worked! I have a roommate who did the same thing but unfortunately it didn't work for him. If you get a "declined error message", call your bank to fix the problem and which I did get that error message and then waited one hour and tried again and it worked. This was all luck and yes this system needs to be fixed. Hope this helps you or anyone with the problem. Furthermore, we shouldn't be finding loop holes just to pay this game. Literally, it took me 5 hours of troubleshooting this problem adding all the error declines included. And one week of not touching this game and tried this method one more time. It finally worked. I haven't played for two weeks after my 30 trial period ended. I feel all your pain.
Its almost a week since I contacted support in both Playspan, Visa and Square about the 11000 error. Ended up giving bf the Ultimate game card for his stuff lol
I might play out the first month then quit, for a sub game I require support and assistance. Hate to say it but you ought to take note from Bliz.
Still no luck... for the record, Blizzard was very happy to take my paypal *and* credit card, despite living in South Korea. Take a hint Square/Enix...
i appreciate the time you took to write your post, i basically have the exact problem, us account, moved to another country bla bla bla and wont accept my payments.. after 2 rounds of live chat that failed miserably telling me we cannot do anything to help you and an email which has not been answered yet... still cannot access the game. i was checking the forums Being Addressed/Currently Reviewing section.. and i was sad to see that this issue has yet to be acknowledged by SE.. even though there are around 77 pages of complaints... and the people who find a way to fix this find a loophole.. i will try that iphone trick see if it works.. as everyone else on this forum.. i am very frustrated i wish i could take some legal action against this ..
