Will try this... what do you write on "Subject" and the body of the mail?I had this problem, too. Error 401 and 601. My boyfriend and I tried to pay with the same credit card. For him it just worked fine. I got the errors.
Square Enix asked me via Email to send them a picture of my credit card and make sure that the first 12 digits of the card are blacked out. You then have to send it to sel-id@square-enix.com including your ticket number because the standard email-address filters out all the attachments.
I sent them the picture and today (4 days later) I got an email that my problem is fixed and I can register and use my credit card for subscription.... and now I'm back in game.
Hope this helps you guys and solves your paying problem, too.
First I opened a ticket at SE Support Center ("Contact Us"). Category: Billing/Payment and subject "Error 401/ 601". You have to send them the following information (explained here: http://support.eu.square-enix.com/fa...=2&kid=68643):
o SQEXID
o Payment method you are trying to use (credit/debit card or Crysta)
o Type of the card used (Visa, MasterCard, etc.)
o Country the card was issued in
o Country you are currently in
o Name of the bank that issued the card
o Number of times you tried to process the payment after you got the initial error message
After filling out all the gaps you receive a confirmation email. A few days later they contacted me via email and asked for the picture of the credit card. So I sent the picture as requested (only last 4 numbers visible) to sel-id@square-enix.com. Subject was my ticket number. In the body of the email I just wrote "... picture of my credit card as requsted", my SquareEnix ID and the ticket number again.
I had to be patient, but they solved the problem. :-)
Thanks Ruby! If all these steps can actually fix the problem it would be great! Many friends in my linkshell have this payment issue right now, I will let them know about this.First I opened a ticket at SE Support Center ("Contact Us"). I tried to click the link so I could check the info, unfortunately, it now says: "The Knowledge Base article you are attempting to access does not exist." Oook so according to this rep SE sold a game to regions where they were not sure if they would be ully supported?? Wtf is that? I believe that's grounds for a lawsuit...so after waiting in queue for hours I finally got one of there retarded agents and this is how it went.
Agent Joseph M: Sorry about that wait, I did check with the billing and fraud department, unfortunately *WE CAN NOT GUARANTEE ACCESS TO THE GAME* outside of the support territories, those being Japan, European, and North American. The card was just not able to be applied currently, most likely because of the card's registered area if it is the xxxx.
You: what kind of bullshit is that
You: you sell a product but it is not a guarantee it will work in certain regions?
Agent Joseph M: The error codes are most likely because THE GAME ISN'T FULLY SUPPORTED IN YOUR REGION. (What does that mean so it's just somewhat supported??) Agent Joseph M: Unfortunately all we are getting is a general error, there isn't a specific reason given. However as the "my location" are not within the support regions WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GUARANTEE SERVICE.
You: i thought this was a world wide game
You: you sell a product but cant guarantee the service for certain regions?
You: this sounds like fraud to me
You: my brother in the next room can pay for his account but i cant
Agent Joseph M: It is only in the support areas listen on the web site, you would need to select a region in order to create the account. Only the support regions are available to be selected.
Agent Joseph M: Some people may be able to get the account to work outside of these regions, but IT IS UNSUPPORTED.
You: so you are telling me you took my money for a game that i cant even play
You: tell me what that sounds like to you
That is what it sounds like to me, i have been looking around the web to find a way to get there fraud system out in the light not just keep it all here on these forums. I was able to pay for y sub back in 2010 but now i get this bullshit bout it is no supported in my region for 2.0.
Last night I finally had my 401 error problem solved. Instead of using my card through Global Collect I used the last option called Ultimate Play. I believe that's the option and I bought 1500 Crysta that way with my credit card. If you do this option called your card provider and let them know your doing the transaction this way. This is enough Crysta for 30 days. Enough to get past the block and just play until then. Try again after the block and see what happens I say.
Okay, so I just tried to purchase 1500 crysta using paypal after getting the 401 error with my pre-paid card and losing $6 for 6 tries. And guess what, 401 error. Not only did they take the $1 for additional fees this time but they also took $16.25 for the crysta aswell, leaving me with nothing! Is there anyway I can get my money back?
This email came to me just now hopefuly that helps people about the money in there account been taken. Please note any amounts of £1/?1/$1.45 removed from your account during each attempt are only test transactions, which will be refunded very soon if they have not already.
Should the issue persist after taking these steps, please contact us again with your Square Enix account ID, email address and the details of the failed transaction.
We will then forward your details on to the relevant department for investigation and will get back in contact with you as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
The Square Enix Support Centre Team
The site is now down for maintenance, could this be a possible fix?
