    Lack-Luster DPS - This is an extension of the previous point. We are DPS, but we're not great at it. DOT has VERY limited instances where it's ideal. Boss monsters/endurance fights is where DOT shines...and possibly the only place it shines. Everywhere else, it's horrible. Even if our damage is on par with other classes, we need TIME for that damage to accrue. ACN/SMN feels SO useless in dungeons when clearing trash mobs. By the time I'm finished with my standard DOT rotation, the mobs' health is already half gone. I clear dungeons significantly faster with my Bard and Black Mage. The only advantage DOT really has over Spike damage is that it's easier to manage aggro (i.e....you don't even have to pay attention to it cuz you'll never pull any hate). Now, I wouldn't be so disappointed in this if SMN were allowed to be more of the support role that it is. But it doesn't fit the DPS role well enough to be forced into it on a consistent basis.

    @ Nichigo, I agree.

    This is one of the problems with the class is how long it takes to get everything in our rotation actually moving. It takes me 13 seconds to get everything off then I have to wait for the dots to tick and do its dmg. The setup is too long for dots to be that effective. Shorten the setup time and it may be better. So not only are our abilities dmg over time, our setup takes longer then any other class to finally start rolling.

    No, because while you're setting up they're still ticking, and partway through setting up you use Fester/Bane.

    AoE we're great. We have the highest sustained AoE damage and I haven't met a single tank that can consistently hold AoE aggro off of me when running AK or CM.



    And no, our setup time is the same and we put out comparable damage in the first 3 GCDs.

    How can you say our setup is the same? 4 Dots cast, 3 with 2.5 second cast times and in between each dot cast, the previous dot ticks therefor our dot dmg goes like this and these numbers are all just numbers throwing out there.

    Dot cast, dot 2 cast(dot 1 ticks for 5), dot 3 cast(dot 1, 2 tick for 10), Dot 4 cast(dots 1,2, & 3 tick for 15), GCD hits, so our dmg goes, 5, 10, 15, 20 ramping up after each dot so no our setup time dmg is no where near other classes. How can you honestly say that it is? Our dmg slowly ramps up due to our casting time on dots. And while festers dmg is nice, it still isnt on par with a BLM's nuke.

    I have literally posted the numbers about this before, and you have literally posted in response to it.

    We do 725 potency in the first 3 GCDs and that's directly comparable to any other job unless they use off-GCD damage CDs.

    GCD 1 Obey + Bio II
    1s in 100 pot from garuda
    GCD 2 - Miasma - 20 Potency + 35 potency from Bio II + 100 Potency from Garuda
    GCD 3 - Bio - 70 Potency From Bio II + Miasma
    In between GCD 300 from fester, 100 from garuda

    Yet another learn to play issue or take that ignorance off and read the other posts. Summoners are the highest DPS class by at least 20-30% margin.

    Do you research. Practice and master it.

    People who claim summoners are weak DPS are what gave summoners a bad name in the first place.
