Good luck with your promotion. Have seen this a lot in WoW. It's cool I guess if people are struggling, or leveling a second class...and yes on the other end, frowned upon. More power to you guys for being able to carry one player!

To all those who frown upon mercenary runs:

When you go to the grocery store to stock up on the food that keeps you alive, do you frown upon the fact that you are spending money on food rather than growing it yourself? Do you frown upon the act of paying for your electricity bill rather than generating your own? Do you frown upon driving a car that you had no part whatsoever in building?

    How is this any different?

Some people don't have the time to spend 10 hours a day throwing bodies at titan for a week with bad pugs, or duty finder noobs trying to learn the ropes. Some of these might be crafters and gatherers capable of generating many runs worth of gil in the same amount of time they would otherwise spend learning the mechanics of this fight, let alone finding a Full Party of equally capable and competent players. Why should these players waste countless hours of their time (and money) trying to kill titan when they can pay a group to kill it for them in under 30 minutes?

Such a transaction should not be frowned upon it should be encouraged. The master crafter who spends his days honing his technique may not have the experience to kill titan nor a group of friends willing to carry him through it. However, he may have an excess of gil and if he is willing to peddle his wares in exchange for gil, why should he not be allowed to pay a group of mercenarys to kill a mob for his relic? It is a win/win situation. The raiders who never craft are payed by a crafter for killing a mob he is not capable of, meanwhile these same raiders will likely spend that hard earned gil purchasing goods being sold by this crafter, that they in turn are incapable of crafting.

This is equivalent exchange in every sense of the word. No one is being ripped off. Each person provides either a good or a service in exchange for gil. The crafters provide goods in the form of items and the mercenaries provide a service in the form of a boss mob kill. Everyone walks away from the transaction happy and with a smile on their face. What exactly is wrong with this notion of efficiency? Nothing.

If you still think this is wrong, then I am left to wonder, who are you to judge what others choose to do with their hard earned gil?

Well, I know for one it was illegal to sell points in Arenas in WoW. It could fall under your 'mercenary' category. I am impartial to either way. I used to sell points in WoW Arenas for people who wanted to get ahead or were making new characters but didn't want to grind out the gear. It's considered throwing matches and whatnot and exchanging wins.

As far as selling spots, we sold gear to people but required a deposit up front. I assume that's the same thing you do. I don't plan to be doing this anytime soon as I think it ruins the experience personally, but there is not enough GIL circulating right now through NPC's and other things to really justify taking money out of the economy as it currently is not a really effective way to generate revenue as it is just recirculating and changing hands, eventually going away (into repairs).

In over 50 mercenary runs, Papashan's Crew has NEVER taken a deposit upfront. We run by a code of honor, despite what others may think or say. We never take payment before the kill, and have never ripped anyone on. We give discounts if you don't want the item, and in such a scenario you are still allowed to greed the titan weapon alongside the rest of us.

I'm all for merc runs I don't have money to go out and buy a decent machine so there's no way I can beat titan I get 4-8 fps in instances so my relic weapon is forever out of reach until I can clear titan and I can't dodge landslide ever because of lag but I can make Gil off botantist and buy the clear. Which I will be doing soon l.

If anyone really get 4-8 fps in instances, everything is out of reach forever.

Anyways, since this has kinda opened for discussion, I have to say something.

I don't frown upon mercenary runs. In fact, as someone who's stuck on Titan for 3 weeks now (a good deal of my FC only recently reached Titan, and I just don't seem to luck it out on DF or shout) , I completely see why someone would resort to this. But, at the same time, I also worry about what these people will do after Titan.

I mean, if you can't beat him, what hope do you have to run Coil? If the problem is your skill, well, your skill will be the same on Coil, so you're getting stuck again on the next endgame progression dungeon. If the problem is lack of a group to run with, again, you're getting stuck on Coil because it pretty much requires a good group to run with. If you have lag or PC performance issues, these will surely keep happening on Coil. Do you want more Relic Weapons? You will have to pay again for the win because you didn't learn now.

Please, don't take this as me trying to ruin your business, and again, if anyone wants to pay for their wins, go ahead and do with. It's your gil, your playtime and you're not breaking any rules, despite what anyone might say.

Message me in-game. We might be able to work out a discount. I feel for you.
