    PLD Materia Question

So I was able to get my hands on the ilvl 70 crafted legs and instead of doing research about materia melds, I had someone meld a Vitality III materia and it says +0. He informed me of the stat caps on gear and it won't go above a certain amount.

My question basically is, if I can't stack more VIT on this piece of gear....would it be better to stack Parry (Battledance) materia, as it has none? Or would Determination/Dexterity be more beneficial? If there's a resource I've overlooked, I apologize in advance.

I met many tanks who stack Parry on their ilvl 70 crafter equipment. Apparently it's a good idea.

With alot of equipment you'll get minimal to no returns using Materia with stats that area already on the gear. This does allow you to vary your stats a bit though, for instance I have 2 HQ Amber rings and a HQ Amber earring tri/quad melded with Determination and Strength to increase what little DPS capability we have.

Between the choices presented, you'd be much better off going Determination and Parry, the amount obtainable depends largely on the type of gear it is so it's up to you how you balance those stats.

Adding materia to Darklight/AF2 gear is on my short list of things to do as well..

Parry & Determination looks pretty good. Str/Vit if can get them without cap but doubtful that will happen much. Skill Speed, Dex, and resistances look like trash. Accuracy is a tough one to gauge - I'll probably skip it because doesn't seem like I miss much.

For Darklight jewelry, I believe it comes with Str or Vit, but not both. As a warrior, I'll probably add whichever one isn't already on my pieces.

Something I've been wondering though: Is there a warning when you're hitting a stat cap and requesting meld from other player? I know there is a warning when you're doing the meld yourself saying like "won't get full benefit".

its simple you try and do it yourself first, yes you may not actually be able to meld it on yourself but you should be able to see the stats go red if you hit the cap on it

Was talking to a pal with full crafted, and everything on him was Dex. I was wondering what the validity of using dex would be.

Yes, when you go into the menu and select your materia, anything that get's reduced will be highlighted in red and show you what the maximum benefit you will get from that piece of materia if any.
