The "white knights" as you call it, didn't "defend SE" when this decision was made. That was your imagination. The white knights said "This is what you guys asked for. This is what people wanted." Rokien was right a lot because he complained about EVERYTHING. He also complained at how slow the game was and how much high spec the computer has to be to play the game. We didn't like Rokien because he would complain about how slow things are in 1.0 and then complained about how animation didn't have weight. For f*ck's sake, he complained about grass. He was also a stanch supporter of game devs listening to fans as well as not listening to game fans because they didn't know what they were talking about. When you take both sides of the same argument, you're going to look like you're winning no matter what you do...
I agree, there are very few actions that have weight to it. Disembowl being one of them. But that was done to lower pc spec requirements because *that's what the gamers wanted*.
Seriously... sometimes with all the complaining that happens here, I think we should have just stuck to patching 1.0.

Blame this new gen who think even a 2.5 seconds is too long and they need more action (which all the action games dont last...so im not even sure what they want anymore). if their ADD brains arent smashing buttons they dont like it.
Good lord i miss the old 1.0 and where it was going...and the old FFXI days, never gonna see something with actual depth to it for a long time until devs realize WoW success isnt gonna happen again.
Actually, I never recalled Rokien complaining about grass or the speed of combat, I believe he either wants it pure action or not action at all(one of the extremes also has stated many times he liked 1.0s combat, just need reworked). He also made a big thread saying how the 2.0 graphics/animations were terrible, not 1.0s. His biggest complaints that I saw, were Quest based system, lack of an open world, instanced content. Everything else was second.

I can't really say i agree. Even on SMN/SCH, I feel like my actions have "punch." The animations for casting/attacking are snappy and feel like there is effort behind them. And this is on a CASTER. I don't really think there's much of an issue here. It may vary some with the class though.
Maybe some of them are hoping Yoshi will have sex with them. He does look rather young still.

1.0 animations took forever to execute, with the increased battle speed have fun being dead while your amazingly animated slo-mo weaponskill finishes executing while you are standing in an AoE.
Just your friendly neighborhood elezen
Stone 2 feels powerfull and some other spells, but melee is mostly lacking I think. Even arrows don't seem to do much, even that cool lance arrow ability, it's very pretty but it doesn't feel powerful.I can't really say i agree. Even on SMN/SCH, I feel like my actions have "punch." The weapons felt like they had weight in 1.0. Even still, you didn't die because they took forever, that's what the battle pace was. Now it feels like I'm using weapons made of cardboard.
