    ***Behemoth Lag issues...help please***

I was playing early this morning on Behemoth server from 11pm to 4am and Behemoth spawned so I went over to take a look and to see what I could see.

Well the screen was mostly blank...players popping in and out of the screen. Behemoth showed up and I was able to target him and do some damage etc....The problem is that I think the graphics were really lagging and Behemoth kept disappearing and I could not target him further. I got credit for doing the FATE and think I even got the acheivment status but then he moved or spawned in a different location so I ran over there and he did not even show in the screen this time.
I know I am "Under-Leveled" for this FATE but my concerns are the graphics not showing and the severe lag...what can be done about this. I have already changed some of my settings to turn off effects that are not needed to reduce this but for this FATE I hope PS3 players are not going to have constant issues with not being able to see the graphics and play the content like everyone else.

Hey at least you saw Behemoth, were able to target him/it or whatever and do any kind of damage. Me? All i see is players, a huge floating purple cloud of whatever ability the HNM happens to be using and ppl droping ded. I raise them, cure them, and i get NO DAM EXP whatsoever because I CANT SEE THE HUGEARSE MOB with 10000s of ppl.

I've tested from 2 dif isp. Sattalite and wireless fiber hi speed.

Its not us, its the server unable to keep up with everything jam packed into a tiny area of moving, casting crowds.

Never got to see Odin, but yet again i raised and cured ppl. Oh and i got nailed by his ae and insta splatted! And someone kindly raised ME heh.

Would be nice if us healer types got heal/raise exp and the fates werent solely based on DAMAGE.

It's not just PS3 players affected, but PS3 players do seem to be more severely affected. regardless of that the server lag on Behemoth is horrible. I was in the South Shroud on Behemoth near Quarymill, just running some gathering quests and random gathering, and the lag was already very bad due to the excessive number of players participating in a large FATE grind on the FATE that regularly spawn in the area. Then Odin spawned in the South Shroud (apparently). I guess that the influx of players from other zones overloaded the server a tad because I was waiting upwards of 30 seconds per gathering action, most of the time I was unable to move, and most other avatars were frozen on the spot too. Once Odin ended, everything returned to 'normal' levels of lag.

    It's a rendering issue.

No, it's not a rendering issue. IIRC, the PS3 graphics engine is capped in terms of the number of players/enemies it will render precisely to prevent the rendering engine causing unplayable lag and maintain a minimum framerate. taking 30 seconds between gathering actions when facing a tree inside wuarrymill because the server is processing several hundred attempts ti fight with Odin is NOT a rending issue.

The closest you could get to a rendering issue in this is when playing the overly busy FATE, when there are too many players/enemies/pets/minions/companions and NPCs all in the same place as you rotate the camera, zoom in/out or move around, the graphics engine will have to decide what to render within it's cap of the number of models to render. There is a drawing priority that is based on whether it's a player, monster, Boss, NPC etc - and there is a line of sight and proximity element to the decision - in other words characters/enemies/etc in view who are not obscured are drawn, others are not. So as you move and pan the camera, or zoom in/out the rendering engine is changing which models are rendered, and as it switches models and loads the necessary data, there is a little lag due to the constant churn in an extremely busy scene. This is made worse still by the fact that the rendering engine needs to know who and what is where before making those decisions and that information is sent by the server in response to player input. If the server is very busy, or it's network links are saturated the data transmission could be delayed.

It doesn't matter how fast the rendering engine is if the server is lagging - which is amply demonstrated by high end PC players having similar (though not quite as severe) issues.

psst....I think you're evaluated on the aggro you generate, not the damage. DPS classes generate aggro with high damage, tanks and healers have other ways...overhealing or Medica for example...

An ability to Hide Players and/or Pets in overcrouded situations would be awsome. Would kill my lag a lot when i port into Camp Drybone or Camp Dragonhead.
