Being the most childlike of the races, cuteness is part of the lalafell package. Yet, it's not all a lalafell is. It's all in how you see your character and present her. Give it a few days and experiment with different looks and emotes.

Not true. The issue is that us lalafell have 3 head tall proportions. What looks good on a miqo'te looks really different on us. But also, vice versa. You just have to look around. Stuff like the Survival gear and the Expedition gear looks great on lalafell without being too cutesy. As far as people switching to lalafell for only a short time, sometimes. It all depends on the individual's tastes.
