Adding to what Panthur says, it was a Windows Update that caused problems with some software, FFXIV being one of them. Microsoft have since pushed out a fixed version though so you just need to run Windows Update and reboot (and possibly run it again if there's still more) until you get the new patch and that'll fix your problems (you must reboot after installing it, I tried not rebooting myself and that didn't work)
