    Rank limits on gear

How will rank limits work in a game where you can switch classes at the drop of a hat (or sword... or the other way around)?

And what's so great about rank limits anyway?

Aren't limitations usually bad? (By definition)

I feel like it's kind of stupid to sacrifice people's freedom just to inconvenience them even more by making them auto-unequip EVERYTHING everytime they change class.

I just don't see why this is such a priority when it only makes the game less realistic, less flexible, more invconvenient, restrictive, and just generally annoying.

In FFXI, everyone stayed at R75 for years and yet there was still a sense of accomplishment to be had when gaining an item. So don't give me that "it makes us feel good on the inside!" crap. Rank limits just inconvenience people and annoy them.

What people really need is a wank limit. IMO.

Well they could create a separate inventory for your equips. Like you could carry two sets of gear with you at all times, then you can switch out your gear with your retainer(or mog house if they add one in the future).

Then have the game reequip everything you had on the last time you played that job. Saved stat profiles, skill profiles, and gear profiles, (can I have it?)

This is as bad as Gear Swapping in XI, it is just going to end up forcing players to maintain and carry huge amount of equipment all the time and eventually we wont have room for actual drops. Its a bad Idea.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with NM and Quest loot having Restrictions on Rank, Class, and Job. It lets the Devs balance what stats and stuff they put on them.

But crafted gear in my opinion should always stay "Optimal" not Restricted.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Then give us more inventory spaces and a categorized, customizable, tabbed inventory menu.

Why can't we just have gear that scales down if you use it out of level range?

would need infinite inventory, 2 gear sets per job for different builds, with uh like lets say 11 jobs since someof the craftspeople can use similar stuff. thats a lot of space, just for gear, not even items/loot/crafting

No you wouldn't. 150 base inv spaces would be fine to start (with more spaces granted through quests similar to the gobby bag quests). Even different builds have overlapping gear, and most classes stick to only one general build anyway. Hardly anyone is going to rank all 11 jobs at varying ranks at the same time. If you do anyway, then you need to weigh the cost/benefit of your inv spaces, just like we all do now.
