You obviously didn't understand him. If you have afks around you , that means you are not doing anything productive either as you no reason to be where afks are standing. So now you assume I stare at AFK characters. Cute. Don't you just know everything? Thank you, o' wise one.
You're right, AFK characters have absolutely 0 impact on the server. You got me! Boy, how silly am I?
Rendering 30 active characters as compared to 30 active + 80 AFK makes no difference.
You sir, win the day. Enjoy! Obvious brick wall, so my job is done here.
-Flies away-
I haven't run into this issue, so this is a hypothetical, but...
If we've established that talking to an NPC or interacting with an object is a confirmed way to go AFK and avoid the kick timer, and that exploit becomes the preferred way for people to do just that, it can become extremely frustrating for people who have legitimate use for that NPC or object to actually interact with it in an optimal environment due to lag and rendering issues aggravated by throngs of idle characters crowding around a single point in an area.
Like I said, aside from the summoning bells in the markets, which are an issue and are being addressed (not likely related to AFKers, but actual in-game use, however), I haven't seen this anywhere else. I'm just saying that I can see a similar issue developing in popular sanctuaries if the user base that wants to go AFK for an extended period of time increases past a certain point. Is it high priority problem? No. But I think if Square really wants to stick to their guns with this kick timer, they should probably quash the workarounds to avoid it. Either go all in, or take it out.
