Yes, because it's easier to blame other people, instead of blaming your own computer. I have no lag in towns, so don't blame players for what is obviously on your side.

Is this still an issue anymore? I think the login errors have pretty much disappeared, so who cares about auto logout anymore?

People have been doing this in every MMO. Download a macro program. Create a macro that clicks 1 every 5 seconds...never log out. Heck, people will go to the inn and autorun into the wall to prevent afk logout. Its nothing new.
I thought people said this doesn't work? And yeah, I don't really see this as an issue anymore.. With this suddenly coming to light it's not like everyone is going to start a synthesis and go AFK - it's too much work and most people just don't care.. I've been put in a queue 3 times since the first maintenance to improve the servers. All of them have been under 5 people. And I think Leviathan is one of the more populated NA servers.

I figured out another exploit by mistake. One day before work I logged on to check on my retainers, and in my haste I forgot to log out. 10 hours later I was still logged in with my retainer out in the inn room.

So I went AFK earlier and was still logged in after 2 hours.
The only difference I can mention is that I tabbed out to browse the net so the game was running in the background.

These aren't exploits - this is the system being lenient. Who cares? Why does everyone want to be the auto-logout nazi? Its had its intended effect - servers are now completely empty EST early morning. There are no login issues that I've seen. Problem has been solved - probably over-solved. Time to relax it down to 90 minutes or so. And fix duty-finder.

First off, the target for this sort of change would be to alleviate stress at peak times, not "early EST". Most people are employed, or go to school. These aren't exploits - this is the system being lenient. Who cares? Why does everyone want to be the auto-logout nazi? Secondly, this isn't "the system being lenient". The more likely scenario is auto-logout isn't something SE initially planned for so in their quick fix to implement it, they missed the many holes able to circumvent it. In other words, it's an unintended oversight.
I can't believe you actually think opening a menu to circumvent the logout is "being lenient" lol. This community is adorable.
As long as they are not disrupting anyone elses game play then it does not matter to me but once they do then they need to be kicked.for example congesting servers or crowding npcs
Personally I don't see the point of being afk as the benefits from resting in an inn room far out weigh just having my character just standing around idle for an extended period of time
