This thread is fifteen pages but there have been people in here saying they got their weapon x fast, and still think the system is bad.

MMOs have always worked this way: there's drops you can work your butt off and steadily obtain, and drops that all depend on luck.

I, for one, have never really liked depending on luck. I'm 0/45 on Ifrit now, I've seen the sword drop once, and of course, it went to the other guy.
I think you may want to look at this from a long term issue not involving random drops.

As I said in my last post

The primal HM runs for that single Primal weapon people want is basically like Russian Roulette but this time only 1 ammo slot is not loaded and all the other ammo slots is loaded.

Also I think they should add some kind of token system to go with the current random drop 1 random primal weapon. Reward for Victory over Primal can be 1 Random primal Weapon and 1 "Primal" Token based on the Primal you defeated.

Have the token be used more than getting Primal weapons for people with bad luck such as tokens can be traded for Primal Themed Armor sets ( A lot of people would love to have a Primal Themed Armor set as their Vanity or for collecting), mini-pets (everyone would love a mini-Ifrit pet), and craft items for Primal themed crafts (crafting is popular for profit but they need to bring in some fun stuff to craft) so people will come back to Primal HM other than for their weapon and Relic quests.

People simply just get their Primal Weapon then up and leaves and never come back until they need it for their Relic. Hardly any incentive to stay and help people get their own Primal weapon even when the group has 2 of the same Jobs competing for that 1 primal weapon.
Currently there is basically ZERO incentive to come back or to help another person get their Primal Weapon from Primal HM right now once the person has their own Primal weapon and Relic quest done. It is a grab, say goodbye and good luck, and never come back once a person has their Primal Weapon and Relic Quest done.

There needs to be more to Primal HM fight other than the current low tomestone drops, which no one likes, that will reward players outside of "Weapon required for Titan HM" mentality going on right now.

A token system would be nice, say you'll need about 30 tokens to trade in for the weapon of your choice. That way it doesn't affect the people who get their weapon in 1-2 tries, and also eventually rewards those who keep getting shafted by RNG.

To be honest though it's not really that hard to farm for your weapon even with horrible luck as long as you keep at it with a decent group. I've kiled garuda so many times now that I have all 9 of her weapons. I almost capped my mythology tomes last Monday from only farming garuda, takes less than 10 minutes with a decent group with people who aren't severely undergeared.

I didn't miss your point. I understood you. I still don't think you have any more right to it than someone else just because, in your opinion, they may never level that class. That's ridiculous. I would be ok if they implemented something at the beginning of a dungeon that allowed you to pick 1 other class that you could need for. That would be ok, as it would put everyone on even ground.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Is it annoying to see other weapons drop run after run? Sure. Does it suck when you've been running it for "forever" and someone on their first or second run gets it? Yup! Does this mean the drop amount needs to be increased? No.

There is no lockout on primals. There is nothing stopping you from farming them. At this point, my FC farms Garuda because 5-6 minute kills gain us more tomes than AK in terms of both Philo and Myth tomes. Not all of us have (had, we do now!) our Garuda weapons. Some of us were still using the GC weapon. Ifrit is what, a 6-8 minute kill? 2 min downtime for requeuing, the pull, the occasional repair and piss break? That's 6-7 kills/hr. 60-70 Tomes of Philo, 24-28 Myth/hr. Farm it. Go with friends. Go with a FC, LS, on-server PUG. DF isn't your only choice. You want tokens? Tomes ARE tokens. You can't buy weapons with them, but they're still tokens, so there you are. With no lockout, there's no reason drops should be increased.

After doing Ifrit (Hard) all week trying to obtain his sword, I can honestly say I've counted 47 items drop and 2 of them were his blades (of course I lost both rolls). I know others have had even worse numbers, I've given up on this for now, and worry the game - is this primal grind for items an example of the repetitiveness we have ahead, with no chance of reward?

Who cares if it's a "token system"? I can think of 100 ways to improve this loot/battle system. I'll give 2 suggestions for free: make more items drop at once (even 2 would significantly increase the likelihood of obtaining the item your after) -or- make it so you can exchange weapons from the same primal for one of your choice (i.e. exchange 3 primal weapons to a npc and get the weapon of your choice from the same primal). After my 47 drops I mentioned previously, I've managed to 'greed' 4 primal weapons from ifrit of which I don't even want right now, or maybe ever.

I've done HM Ifrit probably 100+ times, more helping other people. I got my sword after 35ish runs, and in that time 2 swords dropped. First time went to a guy who couldn't stun and wiped us 3 times. Second time went to a guy who d/ced at 90% and left me to tank and stun. He came back at about 10%. Sword drops, he lots, wins, and leaves without saying a word.

I kept at it, got my sword and even beat titan and completed my relic. After helping many FCmates out, I feel that not everyone should have to go through so much disappointment for a piece of gear that they may not even use long enough to spiritbond. Took almost a week to get ifrit's blade, but only used it for maybe 4 days before I got relic. :/

I think that being at the complete mercy of the RNG is annoying. We had a BLM in our FC get her weapon on her very first kill, but our DRG had to kill Ifrit 56 times to get his. This is absurd, when you think about it. Smoothing out RNG dependency on gearing up would be helpful.

Solution: Find some FC/LS and play with them. If the weapon doesn't go to you then it goes to your friends and when all party members got their weapons the next one will be 100% yours.

doesn't need to do it 100+ times like you people did.
