My first AK experience was like that. Did well up until the last boss, I could not get the positioning right. Everyone stayed patient and helped me through it with pointers. For me, it kind of restored some faith in the community.

I have 2 Dl pieces too go then I will attempt it and I will try with a PUG also because they actually dont mind teaching you
and helping you along versus the spammers that are asking for elite groups and I find it more enjoyable I have had so many
GREAT PUG groups especially when we did Hydra it took us like 5 times but man we did great. Good thread OP and grats to you guys

My god, I was expecting another horror story and public shaming.

Thanks for bringing the good word.

Why do people even queue up for Titan HM. It is not puggable. You should not be using 2 tanks for this fight. It is great to just see how the fight will works but you are not going to beat it.

Had a similar experience on Excalibur. Joined a late night PUG for Hydra. Total PUG group: none of us knew eachother in the slightest. We 1-shot hydra, which isn't saying much because its not that hard of a fight. Just lots of conal AoE and "red circles of GTFO".

We decided that we should just go ahead and take on ifrit. I knew the fight well, but I was in the minority. Most of us had no idea what to expect.

Through patience, cooperation and a good explanation of mechanics, we 2-shot ifrit.

In my experience playing MMO's, theres two kinds of people you find in pug groups: Patient people who give strangers the benefit of the doubt, and impatient people who project their own issues onto others. I hope we continue to run into the former and not the latter.

Thanks for sharing your experience, OP. It makes me feel my good feelings

Thank you all for sharing your good experience stories. It makes me really happy to read them all! It strengthens my belief in the other players out there.

That first time in Ifrit (Hard) I took the e-hate hard because my core values are; I give people the benefit of the doubt (i.e. they must be angry for one reason or another) and I like everyone to be in good spirit (i.e. just saying hi and explaining the dungeon and being polite/patient to first timers). This is why I play a healer, because I ENJOY keeping the party alive and making everyone happy.

On a side note I got my Ifrit Cane!! It was via PUG and there were first timers in there. We explained the situation to them and all went well, no one KOed.

Anyhow, it brings me great joy to see that there is HOPE for the FFXIV community.

Keep sharing these awesome stories, to uplift those that have run into bad ones!

"Through patience, cooperation and a good explanation of mechanics" <--- really good sum up!

This sounds like the group I first did HM Garuda with. Myself as healer and a tank friend both zoned in and admitted it was our first time, but that we'd watched videos. They explained the fight again to us and the healer marked himself and told me to just stick with him. We didn't wipe, but I suppose Garuda is a lot easier than Titan.

The other week I did AK for the first time as DPS (second time total), and we brought in another friend on his first time to be healer. We kept wiping due to some silly mistakes (namely, the tank had forgotten an important thing to explain about the safe spot in the first boss fight, and I forgot it myself since I'd only done it once myself). The BLM pug in our group was very patient, we apologised for our mistakes and that we were mostly inexperienced, he even said he hopes that if he's patient and teaches, then the people he teaches will do the same for another newbie later on.

So yeah, there are nice people out there in the sea of duty finder, and it's always great to meet them

Last night playing on a pug against garuda, I told them I was new but I had watched the videos several times. They agreed to do it, we didn't finish the duty but they stayed during the whole time. Nobody raged and nobody was rude to anyone. I'm going to get 3 pieces of darklight armor then try again.

I have had only one bad experience with the duty finder and I let him know he was a scumbag. I threatened to afk inside the dungeon if he didn't shutup and it worked.
