Cleric Stance is not an answer because it is only usable on SCH to allow you to slightly improve your dps. It hurts your healing. This might be more useful on SMN, but is not available.

Slightly improve? So swapping MND for INT and getting a 10% damage boost is a slight difference in dps? If I have for example 300 MND and only 200 INT that's not exactly a "slight" difference in my potential damage output is it?
As a lv 34 wht mge I'm able to out dmg my dps party members using stone II and cleric stance. Didn't mean to personally call you out and attack you, but "slight" is quite the understatement in this case.

Based on much of what I'm seeing and hearing, I think that regardless of role, you're simply best off just putting your stat points into mind unless you plan on being solely focused on damage.
As a Summoner, this means that you don't get that extra bit of damage, but instead can heal both your pet and other party members better... Keeping with general versatility of the class. As most of your damage comes from pet and DoT, spreading a Physic now and then isn't lowering your dps much and helps the whitemage preserve their mana better.
As a Scholar, this means better healing out of cleric stance so that if you are in a primary healing role your heals (and damage soak effect) is higher, and in cleric stance your damage is high enough to compete with dps classes while still being able to function as a secondary healer role and utilize your pet.
Try not to forget that you can swap out of that stance VERY quickly and go right into curing afterwards (i hate seeing healers stuck in that stance healin unless i'm taking light damage) with 0 problems.
