15 points of a stat is worth an entire ilvl90 accessory. Its a pretty big difference. Personally I have both relics and I am running a 15/15 split, but it does feel silly to work at getting all this gear and weapons while knowing I'm effectively running without a ring or wristlet equiped at all times.

To people saying "well I heal just fine" or "I dps just fine." Have you done Titan HM? How about coil? The higher into endgame you go, the more those stat differences will matter. Consider sch: A naturally low potency class that utilizes doubling as its primary mechanic (shielding). In a sense, every mind you are missing on sch is actually hitting you twice as hard as it would on whm (this isn't strictly true, but one can see the point).

Mmhmm, I tried to heal HM Garuda with full strategos gear...pretty difficult I found, while if I had 30 more mind it would've been cake.

Think of it this way, you know all those parties for Titan etc that want you to have full darklight?

Well if you have full darklight gear on with a full int build...you would only have the mind stat of full strategos. And so...they really don't have any reason to take you over a "normal" built scholar in greens.

It might have been intended as a give and take facet, but what it really ends up being in the end is an ultimatum. It tells me I should do one well and then pick another class. In my case, I'll max Mind for Scholar and then level Bard, and it doesn't matter that I'd like to play Summoner, too. It has been ordained that I will always be a sub par Scholar or sub par Summoner.

It's also a completely unnecessary mechanic since you still have to grind a separate gearset to do well on your scholar.

You have to make a choice, it makes the decision much more meaningful. I kind of like it actually.

Besides 10,000 seals isn't that much.

I think it's a bit inconsequent, because of the way characters work in this game. If they wanted to make the choice of class more meaningful, perhaps they should not allow to learn all classes on one character. Their concept basically says: the choice of class doesn't mean anything, only here they make an exception.

In a game that was more "hardcore" and making "meaningful" decisions was the norm, I'd agree, but in this game, where you don't even have to make a meaningful decision on which class to play, it doesn't fit and just looks like they came up with a system that was poorly thought out and fails to accommodate edge cases like summoner/scholar.

That is like saying you wouldn't notice the difference between AK and Darklight gear, or between AF2 and Darklight.

If 30 mind is not worth having, then why do people even care at all about their darklight/AF2/allagan upgrades?

    Try it.

I agree that they need to split it. If this game was alt friendly even in the slightest, I probably wouldn't mind it how it is. Though as of right now there is no way in hell you'd get me to level a second char/go through the entire story/level up all the same old base classes again just to be able to switch between SCH and SMN on the fly. I'd rather they had just made them two completely separate classes at this point, and I fear for future job splits.

There are a lot of people out there (myself included) who prefer to play a dps version of a class, but is more useful as a healer/tank (or vice versa) and will gladly play those roles while raiding or running dungeons with guildies. However, they will want to then play the role they prefer to play while solo, simply for the fact that that is more fun for them. That should not be penalized. This is a game that you're meant to have fun playing, so having a mechanic that blocks having fun for absolutely no real reason makes zero sense.
