Suggestion or Solution? HP Bar

I don't know if this option is hidden on purpose or if I'm just looking in the wrong area? I play on PS3 and I was wondering if there is an option to display an enemy target's HP bar with numbers instead of just a graphical line being reduced? I thought maybe it was hidden to eliminate us from seeing how much HP the bosses have. If the option doesn't exist, we definitely should have it as an optional feature.

As far as I know, there is no option to display values for HP/MP on the bars.
I do wish they could add an option for this in the near future.

Lol at your quest sig. Anyways, in ffxi they were always notorious for not showing any kind of hp values on mobs. Annoying. Accidently aggroing an NM was even more annoying (mostly because i failed to notice the name difference in a pile of raptors or something while farming/killing leveling fellow etc, oh and leveling monstrocity). Oh HI Hazmat (NM bomb in garlaige citadel mixed in with normal bombs no one kills anymore). Bleh.

Being ff14, i am assuming they are keeping this elusive numerical value...elusive. Hell i cant even see how much exp my choco needs to rank 4. Annoying!

I believe this is hidden from us to prevent the player base that is categorize as "elitist" or "perfectionist" from alienating other players from not being geared (or what they consider to be "geared") enough to break through the numbered HP.

I'm sure you'll agree that in other MMO's the amount HP on bosses, HAS been taken into heavy consideration when choosing which type of jobs to bring to the fight.

Perhaps it's better for the community that this numerical value be kept hidden to prevent further "Exaggerated Planning" when selecting party members. :/

This sh*t drives me crazy (not you, xSinful_Snake - don't get me wrong! Your post was very informative, thank you).
I am by far not an elitist player, but I also really like to know how well I am doing and that almost always means looking at the numbers. I could care less about the elitist players that care to be that way, but to prevent me from seeing how well I am personally doing for my own personal gratification takes away from the game for me. It feels like I am being punished just like in grade school when "one person ruins it for everyone", and that just infuriates me.

I remember turning on HP values in WOW years ago, and then nearly died at the sight of one of the roaming Elite 3 star mobs. 1 billion hp + lolol that would take my hunter a looong while to chew his hp down.
