I slightly disagree with this, on the basis that you can still run FATEs for company seals and a bit of pocket change, and there are FATEs that drop items, like minions. Plus that upcoming FATE that will give the FFXIII gear.Or do it like in FFXI when you cap you get Merit points, for every level you get a bonus one point to add to any status. Not only make it a great end game, but encourage level 50 to keep going. Right now, once you Cap you basically done and you will never revisited old Dungeon or Fates anymore.
That FFXIII gear will it be vanity? I hate getting stuff I cant wear to battle...

Im sorry but for some wierd reason it really annoys me how everyone calls them tombstones.

The merit idea also reminds me about EQ with alternate advanced (AA) points. I forget the level you can start earning AA's but basically you had 2 xp bars and you can put 100% into normal xp or split xp up between normal xp and AA xp. But the AAs werent just put into str, int and what not but also towards things like increase crit damage or increase how often you crit. and you needed 3 AAs for the first level 6 for the 2nd and 9 for the 3rd. also added some new abilities this way as well. be nice to see something like this added to the game

Also, what happened to beatmen strongholds? I remember in 1.0 each stronghold had a lot more tough monsters and a boss at the end of them. I went into the Amalja one the other day and there was like 3 regular monsters at the end.... There's more potential wasted.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Eorzea is such a beautiful world, its a shame that after hitting 50 people basically just stay in 1 spot and hit AK queue. Sure it is their / our choice to do so no one is forcing us but its the only way to farm the tomes. I don't want to think that the world is only for 1-49. I know there's odin, World primal fights, Behemoth and such but I'm just hoping there's more. Give a reason to spread the people out take advantage of the wonderful world that you have made. In regards to trash mobs in dungeons I've been pondering on what the possible things that could be done with them.
Making them drop gil, weapon or even tomes is out it will just ruin the economy. Maybe add their drops to more valuable recipes but make them (esp HQ one) extremely rare. Say one part of the recipe can be found in X dungeon while the other of the same recipe in Y. Just throwing out ideas here. Although people will always find ways to skip / hasten dungeons there's really not much that can be done. If you're going to add tomestones to say hard mode of previous dungeons balance it well. Length vs Amount otherwise people will just find the new "AK" and farm that one crazy. Give green gears like Hetarois complete set bonus then spread them out across dungeons. Just another reason to spread people out. For now thats all I got but please use the world and give the dungeons sitters a reason to explore, not a bad idea right...
