? for those looking to play on ps4

okay, so i know through interviews that sony has stated that you will now have to pay for online multiplayer. that being said i've also seen them state in articles that certain games will bypass this and it is ultimately up to the game developers. now what my question here is will this game be locked behind a ps4 paywall since i more than likely will subscribe to this game. will i be forced to pay two subscriptions or merely one for this game?

i have not done any research on whether or not SE will do this or not just wondering about this and figured this would be a legitimate place to pose this question.

The only games that you don't need ps plus for, are f2p games like DCUniverseOnline. That said yes you will likely need ps plus for FF14. As it is in no way f2p game. Dcuo, planet side and the other actually f2p games have been the only ones Sony said will not need it.

After all the 360 had paid multiplayer but you didnt need it for FFXI. I played on the 360 for years and never had a gold membership.

Is it up to the devs an publishers if they want to make it a req to have ps plus in order to play. So we shall see soon I guess.

And you can move over to ps4 for free. But yeah, I don't think you'll have to pay twice but if you're playing other games you may be paying for ps+ anyways.

It's been confirmed by Sony that PS+ isn't going to be forced on developers like Live service is with Microsoft. Further, I believe Yoshida said something about not requiring it, either.

You're welcome, and to some of the others. Making it a choice? How does that make sense in any way? Would you give a choice if running a service, to others wether you make money or not? I highly doubt Sony is gonna let the people who are already making money, by creating the game ,decide wether Sony gets paid for people using Sony's services to play said games online.

Would SE see any money from the PS+ subs if that ended up being required? $$$ would be the deciding factor in SE's decision making, unfortunately.
