What is wrong with this community?

I'm not stereotyping PS3 players, but I think mixing pc and console gamers in one domain is kind of asking for a divide in the community. Console players are more often than not aggressive in their approach to socializing due to the way in which they are conditioned in game to interact with each other.

The only reason I'm on ps3 is that my pc is crap. I'm rather happy with the cross platform sicne I can play with my friends who are on pc.

I was in 2 DF parties for Titan tonight, back to back, and before we even started the fight ppl just left without saying a word. Really? lol

they probably gear checked and chked hp bars.

Titan really shouldn't even be on DF, hopefully gear restrictions help things slightly but I'm not holding my breath.

Here are some reasons for the community being the way it is.

- FFXIV is alot faster paced than FFXI, so it attracted WoW players and other MMO hoppers that wanted to try out something new. MMO Hoppers do not have a community, because in essence they will just leave when they are not longer interested in the game.
- Duty Finder
- It's the internet
- You play on an NA server.

FFXI Players in general are used to a tighter community and since this game attracted the "Gamers" then this is the majority of the answer. "Gamers" play and sift through multiple games and only truly care about the gameplay. These are the same people who skip all the cutscenes, care nothing of the community within the game, they pretty much just don't care.

Hopefully after free subs run out, and a maximum of 2-3 months, we'll see many of these toxic players drop away, never to return again. Here's hoping and cheers to all you people that actually care about founding a decent community.

I had such a nice experience today with my FC. I decided finally, that I would join the teamspeak they had going on. Now, at first it was nice. Then a FC member logged in and started a conversation, but he ended up saying he wanted to ask a player to join him in a run but because he was African american he didn't want to ask him because, apparently, African american people are all ignorant. He also said he doesn't want to have a conversation or even talk with anyone who "had more than 3% black in them."

Now from this point on I was a bit on edge about my FC, but I stayed for awhile longer thinking maybe he was joking. But then another member ended up saying the word "nigger". Something annoyed him and he called it a "nigger."This is when I got suspicious and uncomfortable because I myself, am African american. So, like any normal person, I said my goodbyes and left the FC.

Anywho, I'm not angry at the situation or anyone personally, I just feel like this a sad truth in the community.

It is for this reason I will not join a free company that requires any type of voice communications. A lot of FC's say it is for end game, but when I was in FFXI my end game guild had no communication besides linkshell chat and we did just fine. I also do not want some teen (or an old man acting as such) screaming obscenities into his mic because he thinks someone should be playing their job a different way than they play it.

I honestly cant wait for the jerks to go back to GW2 and WoW and Tera. Right now this game is over saturated with rude trolls and idiots who cry all day on the forums that this game has "Nothing to do endgame" when they have not even got their full DL or Relic weapon or even friking SEEN the entrance to Coil of Bahamut.

Until WoW I never really saw any bigots in MMOs but now they are everywhere. My FC had to kick someone out the other day for a racist joke. I am not of any race that is likely to get attacked but I still can't stand when others are... it is mostly because I know that anyone saying those things is a total idiot and a waste of perfectly good oxygen.
