A game has nothing to do with shaping a community. Online etiquette has gone down the tubes over the years simply because people feel like they can hide behind a screen act how they want and get away with it because there are no direct
repercussions. If someone is uncomfortable with something and speak up they are immediately teased, made fun of, or trash talked. I've seen it numerous times in parties/guilds.
Personally if people start acting rude or immature I just ignore them and hope they will eventually go back to Call of Duty or other such game where that kind of behavior is expected. In games like this things seem to go much smoother and a lot more fun when people are polite, nice, and helpful.
Just my two cents, but I don't believe a game molds the community. I think its the community of the game and what type of behavior is allowed that creates a good or bad environment.
Sadly I've had the same experience in game only on a more wide spread scale. I am one of those people that will talk to random people in cities because of how there character looks or the name they chose. It's become rare that other people will answer you much less even acknowledge your existance in game.So I'm farming CM with a friend to help him finish getting his Darklight. I get into a group with a pull-happy tank that pulls the second boss and locks a couple people out. We wiped, then he starts trying to trash talk me (the other tank). Then AFKs when I talk back to him.
This is just one minor example of what running with random players has been like in this game. The online community has become nothing more than a cesspool of trash floating downhill to a sewage plant.
If this is the community I can expect to have to deal with, I'm not sure I'll stay. I just can't take being verbally assaulted in every other run for absolutely nothing.
When people do talk, like in dungeons it's usually foul language or people acting like there better than others for some reason.
It's an mmo everyone
The point of the game is to exist in a social environment that also enjoys gaming together.
Stop changing it into some kind of horrible nightmare.

The real problem isn't in FC's but in choosing a good one and how you interact with the people within. This is an MMO, if you don't want to deal with the "social bs" in a game that's based around working with other people to do things... are you sure this is the type of game for you?
Transfer to JP server.
I have ran into two English rude ppl so far.
You can always choose to play with JP only players. They never rude or impolite... Though one did strip down to his subligar the other night and streaked through the dungeon while the rest of us ran after him cheer and blowing kisses. Speaking the same language of the people you play with is overated.
OP, that's exactly same type of group I joined and they gave me, wife a hard time, to a point where we just said being harrassed this much isn't even worth playing and we stopped playing battle class. I am waiting for my LS/FC group to catch up and going to go with them. I understand they want speed runs but how rude can these jerks get? I have never seen this type of people in other MMO's, sure there were jerks in other MMO's but for me personally, this is the worst experience so far.
Just report them for harrassment and hopefully after enough warning they will get perm ban for good.
Considering that I'm in your LS, you can ask me![]()

I think game definitely mold the community. If a game requires complete dependence on everyone else to get anything done, you will see etiquette reassert itself. Because now there are direct repercussions for being not liked.
While it's true JP server are a peaceful dream, silent shout chat, and respectful players, sadly on queue i'm sad to admit the douchebag E attitude is spreading like a virus, a cancer. Maybe most on this thread don't understand 1 single word, when they type. I do, and i can tell they laugh about who do 1 single thing wrong, and if the player try to type anything is bashed. Worst is when one of them using "engrish" answer in english. Then (if you didn't understood 1 word so far) you realize what they are telling to you "You're useless here, leave, we don't need you".This is why I stick to Japanese servers. At least the players are polite and if they don't have anything good to say, they just don't say anything at all. If you want, Masamune is the unofficial Oceanic server for legacy (Tonberry for new) and has plenty of English speakers. And you can get by pretty well with auto-translate with the Japanese players.
If speechless and a bit confused, copypaste the jp chat, and you will see translated they all was bashing, laughing about you, trying to find one of them able to speak english and invite this player to leave and don't come back.
Disillude yourself about the JP community. While , true, most are polite and educate, costant and able to deal with 1 wipe, on a second wipe you can even "feel" their disappointment. Silent maybe, until you trigger the button, then bash begins.
It's rare luckly, that's why my queue are exclusively on J.
