Here is the difference between the OP and you. The OP never claimed to be more skilled than anyone else. You on the other hand seem to pretend that you are despite your gear and your FC carrying you just as hard.

You have to be joking. You're comparing a fresh 50 to your legacy character running Garuda for the "first time" when you already have the ilvl 70 weapon she drops? You think that makes you better than a "mediocre player"? I'm guessing you were running with your FC also? Did they also handicap themselves? Maybe run AF with a relic weapon? Maybe a scholar in full darklight but only a lieutenants weapon?

You're even worse than him, considering you're lording your skill over him when you were heavily leaning on your gear and just didn't realize it. Let's see you queue up in the Duty Finder with AF and a Flame Seargent's Bow and see how well you fare then.

Garuda really doesn't require more than AF unless you're the main tank.

Actually, no, they just have to be smart and attack them. She is still correct. regardless of if you accept it or not, DPS don't need more then AF. For either HM primals. Maybe if you are under skilled and you feel you need the best possible gear to make up for your lack of. then i can see why you would need more then AF i guess.

I love how people automatically assume that people suck and attack someone personally to make their point. Actually, I am not a DPS. And I have seen runs fail because DPS didn't kill the feathers in the NORMAL Garuda, and been told how that is a problem in Garuda HM as well.

So maybe those DPS were unskilled, or maybe people are lazy and want to do stuff without spending a little more time so they can DO a little more than just going with the bare minimum gear and strain the rest? I am sure the better geared players who are making up for the "very skilled players" with little gear appreciate this.

And before you say anything, yes you can have players with good gear who suck. You can't measure player skill beforehand but you can measure gear, unless of course you know the people you are doing the runs with, but this was never a discussion about individual skill.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I want to make sure I go above and beyond what a party expects from me, I don't want to bring the bare minimum. It's a matter of personal pride.

There is a theoretical limit to the amount of "work" every job with certain statistics can do, and better gear raises that limit. There are situations in ARR that are literally impassable unless damage, heals, and damage reduction meet certain criteria.

In the end, no amount of friendship and positive thinking can beat simple mathematics.

Really? You're making it sound like this is a serious job and that we can't enjoy a game and laugh with friends without best gear.

I'd rather play with a group of friends and be laughing about us dying as long as we're having fun. Not everyone wants to turn the MMO into a job and only be able to play with bestest gear ever because people end up saying: "Not enough gear, please come back later."

Especially to an FC mate, learn to just enjoy the game and laugh with others.

You're going to find a lot more enjoyment in succeeding raids and progressing with your friends than wiping over and over to the same boss. Work together with your friends to get geared and take the endgame down together. It really doesn't get too much better than that. :P
