True story, excluding Titan and the coil, nothing in this game REQUIRES more than AF.
To the OP: You're not being elitist, you're just mediocre players that can't compete without the best gear. Don't take that as an insult though, you shouldn't be ashamed of your mediocrity.
When we beat Garuda Hard (over 2 weeks ago), it was my first time ever playing BRD, and I didn't know what Amdapor keep was....I was in AF with a Garuda Bow and it was STILL easy. Step your game up. (I normally wouldn't speak that way, but YOU started the elitist talk)
Maybe he was was saying that he exists only in the presence of Elitists.

How about instead of going on an on about who are *elitists* and and who aren't, You guys write the correct procedure for the players to follow the game progression, or at least link to some guides to help us the community who aren't there yet to get it right..
You are all quick to bash the op (yes he was wrong to his fc member) but at least he attempted a guide while right or wrong i have no idea, not 50 yet, i would like to do the correct procedure at some point.
You're going to find a lot more enjoyment in succeeding raids and progressing with your friends than wiping over and over to the same boss. Work together with your friends to get geared and take the endgame down together. It really doesn't get too much better than that. :PReally? You're making it sound like this is a serious job and that we can't enjoy a game and laugh with friends without best gear.
I'd rather play with a group of friends and be laughing about us dying as long as we're having fun. Not everyone wants to turn the MMO into a job and only be able to play with bestest gear ever because people end up saying: "Not enough gear, please come back later."
Especially to an FC mate, learn to just enjoy the game and laugh with others.

You have to be joking. You're comparing a fresh 50 to your legacy character running Garuda for the "first time" when you already have the ilvl 70 weapon she drops? You think that makes you better than a "mediocre player"? I'm guessing you were running with your FC also? Did they also handicap themselves? Maybe run AF with a relic weapon? Maybe a scholar in full darklight but only a lieutenants weapon?
You're even worse than him, considering you're lording your skill over him when you were heavily leaning on your gear and just didn't realize it. Let's see you queue up in the Duty Finder with AF and a Flame Seargent's Bow and see how well you fare then.
I love how you're acting pro about killing Garuda Hardmode "over 2 weeks ago" on a legacy character also. Seriously. This is such a ridiculous post. I'm hoping it was a typo, for your sake.

You dont need item level 70 gear (Darklight) in order to do Amdapor Keep, which by the way drops item level 60 gear. You can easily have Amdapor Keep on farm with just your full AF and even a crappy weapon as long as you understand how the fights work and do an optimal rotation as DPS or know how to use defensive cooldowns as a tank, heals as a healer etc...50s should be running CM for tomes to get darklight gear and wanderers palace for the darklight weapon. Then ifrit for better weapon, and then after having atleast 2 or 3 darklight they could try running AK! I havent even attempted garuda or titan and I have 4 darklight pieces.
As someone who is not yet 50, I appreciate people's little guides and ideas to help me out with what the natural flow of progression will be once I do get to 50. I don't want to be that one person everyone else is having to carry. People can say what they want about gear never mattering at all, but I can tell you as a healer that when we have undergeared DPS and undergeared tanks I really struggle to keep up the tank or the fight draws on too long and I run out of MP and then we all just die, which could also be due to my own being undergeared, thus my heals not being as potent as they could be and my MP pool not being as large as it could.
The thing is, every group is a team, it's the sum of all of its parts. While one person in absolute crap gear can easily be carried if the rest of the group is geared, being that one geared person trying to carry a whole group of undergeared people becomes less viable. It's better to encourage people to work a little bit than it is to encourage them to do no preparation at all and just let their FC mates and random DF groups carry them.
I love how there are still morons who think you need darklight gear for most of endgame, when my best HM garuda run was 2 tries and every single dps and me ( healer) was all in full AF including the tank, and we went through the fight, flawlessly.
So in other words as rydin stated it just seems to be people like OP are just sub-par skilled players that cannot function without the best gear possible, so they try to brainwash everyone else into thinking you need this and this gear for content that you don't need it for. AF is perfectly fine for most endgame content outside of Coil. accept it or not, i could careless, but don't feed this egotistical BS to people who actually have a will of their own.
