Just grinding FATEs alone to level up secondary classes, I always broke even or made more gil than I spent on repairs at an NPC. The same goes for running leves and guildhests.

Dungeon runs are a gil-sink, but with the prospect of earning better gear. So you're sort of paying for special drops because it's thoroughly possible to spend more on it than you get out of it. But that's how it should be; part of the "danger" of a dungeon is to use up your resources.

Crafting/gathering and selling also makes you gil, albeit this comes from other players, and the tax rates are a somewhat pointless gil sink. But the craft leves provide a lot of gil, especially if you deliver HQ product, and not coming out of a player's pockets.

So far on this longer term, I believe the game is generating more gil than it's forcing us* to sink on it. I'm subject to changing my mind when I've played more endgame, but I'm beginning to suspect that this is the overall sum of it.

    * You're not forced to pay for travel expenses a lot, an airship ride here or there, using Return to quickly log out in a sanctuary, and riding most places costs little compared to constant teleporting. You're not forced to buy a lot of things, the game is handing out items on every corner. You're not forced to buy stuff from the market if you can't afford and are just rushing to level out a crafting class, or what not.

Lol @ gil issues. I made 400k yesterday crafting just from 10 minutes of work.

If you have full leves getting a craft from 1-50 can easily be done in ONE day so no one has any excuse. And if you bother to research which leves allow for multiple turn-ins you probably do it with less than 50 leves. At the end you're getting 400k xp per leve! Thats' right 400,000 experience point from one leve. You have no excuse not to level a craft if you want to make gil.

In fact the game practically THROWS gil at you since you don't even need HQ mats to make HQ items almost 100% of the time because of cross class abilities and paying attention to what you're doing. Basic reading skills will allow you to look up what items on the market you can HQ and sell for a profit.

When housing comes crafters are going to make an absolute killing.
