If it wasn't for fate grinding I wouldn't last past level 35ish. Quest based leveling is horribly boring, I prefer to grind. Luckily fates give me that option.

I see everyone screaming nerfs. i really dont mind people getting to 50s fast and doing what they like. every point that has ever been made, for or against nerfing, is moot. Myself, if im feeling like i really want to level up i will run fates, if i wanna enjoy the game and all its glory, i quest. its all a matter of choice.
Its not killing crafting by people leveling up. I craft stuff and have 0 problem selling most of it. maybe try selling stuff for reasonable prices? there are still a majority of players who dont power level in this game and many other MMO's.
And dungeons, yes if you are dps they take way longer than tanks or healers, but thats in ANY mmo. Most people prefer dps over classes that take some skill or strategy to use.

The majority of the actual game comes in the end game.
Then by all means, lets bypass it all? Are you kidding? You know how many resources went into developing the story vs whatever you consider "end game"? For a freshly released game, how robust do you think "end game" is going to be?

The most common retort here is "I don't care how mind-numbing and brainless is, I want max level asap, and FATE fits that bill currently." Thats fine, but wouldn't you rather it be more interesting? Whats the point in having a broken risk/reward system? There is no benefit. Sadly I have friends who think the same as you, and I get pulled into it.

agree with op, fates need to be toned Down in xp gain, it rules out all other Things to do pre lvl 50.

Your definition of interesting isn't the same as everyone's. Different strokes for different folks. I didn't care about the story, skipped every cutscene in fact. I enjoyed leveling.

Most of the fates don't encourage you to play your role (and sometimes actively discourage it) and therefore play in detriment to the game because they do not reinforce party mechanics and team work. While a nerf to these things might be necessary, I would MUCH rather see an xp reward increase to Guildhests, Dungeons, and Leves in parity to the current Fate XP ratio before nerfing the only effective avenue of leveling your other jobs.

In my honest humble opinion, the leveling experience in this game isn't very well designed and needs a lot of tweaking in order to make it a fun experience beyond your first class. Fates aren't enough.

i pretty much only do fates for GC seals.

sure it takes longer to level up the way I do. but im not in a race.

dungeons, leves and quests are the way to go, imo.

raise exp inside dungeons and let people get gil inside. that'l fix it.

You would know this isn't true if you hadn't skipped so much content via FATE grind.

Said it in another post, but will say it here. Have you people even leveled in this game? I get the feeling that you haven't. You do realize that in order to even UNLOCK said end-game content you HAVE to have done the story quest. Most of the critical parts of the story quest is instanced forcing you to, 1: Have gear, and 2: not be a baddie (Thank God for forced level sync). Then to top it off, you are FORCED to run 9 dungeons and 3 primal fights (and if you think garuda won't weed out some of the bad players forcing them to be better you have NOT done that fight) all to even unlock the endgame (HM Primals and BCoB).

Then combine that with your class quests giving you most of your critical abilities, you HAVE to run them solo, and while they are not "hard" if you are properly playing your class, you generally cannot just auto-attack to win.

FATEs are not the reason for bad players... bad players are the reason for bad players.

EDIT: Also, while FATE grinding is the "fastest" method to level an alt class/job it is not "quick" by any means. Just rough paper math from personal experience.
    1-10 about 1 hour
    11-20 about 1 level every 15 - 20 minutes (or 3 - 4 hours)
    21-30 about 1 level every 30 - 40 minutes (or 5 - 7 hours)
31-40 (this one is harder to guestimate since coerthas is really hard to FATE grind due to population) but my horrible experience has been 1.5 hours per level. I would guess this would be closer to 40-50 minutes if done better so in a perfect world (7 - 8.5 hours) personal experience has been closer to 15 hours... really painful.
41-50 about 1 level every hour (assuming the zone isn't over-populated... I have experienced both sides of this coin) so 10 hours.

BEST CASE 1 - 50 in about 26 hours... I would put the average closer to 35-40 hours. Assuming 3 hours a day of gameplay you would be 50 in around 12 days or so if you didn't side track on anything else... just the one class, so class story, no main story, no dungeons, no nothing. This is really not that bad. So please tell me how FATE grinding is "fast" leveling again?

Edit 2: Unless you are still a believer in the days of EQ leveling which took months of playing 6 hours a day to hit max level... in which case, get with the times or go back to EQ... because games have not been like that for a long... long time.

Fates are good the way they are. What they can do is increase the xp reward for dungeons so they're more worthwhile. Right now some fates give more xp then the hardest dungeon at level, ie svara fate vs qarn dungeon
