Making FFXIV MB based off of Blind bidding just like FFXI AH

The reason why the Auction House in FFXI was so successful was because every purchase was a blind bid. You could see the transaction history but not the current price. You had to guess, and if you were willing to take the time and attempt and bid low in order to take advantage of the undercuters, you could, but most people paid whatever the previous bid was.

Right now, the markets are flooded and completely out of wack. People are selling stuff on the MB for less than what you get at a vendor, it's ridiculous. Please bring back the blind auction from FFXI.

Curious...what do you think would happen if ppl sell at a higher price than the vendor?

FFXI Auction house was not succesful. It was so bad, people prefered to often times leave their character outside the zone with their player bazaar open for days at a time.

Undercutting is a great thing. It's the reason why prices for everything are so cheap and are going to fall even more. I personally don't like to pay a lot of money for the things I want.

I believe he meant they're selling it on the Market Board for less than what they'd get if they just sold it to a vendor.

He means people selling at a lower price than a vendor will buy it for, not the vendor selling price. And yeah, I've seen that too. You have to wonder about some people.

I preferred the AH in City of Heroes. I forget the term for it, but you'd put up an item for as low as you'd like to sell it for, and buyers would put how much they want to buy for. It gave the power to the sellers, but as someone who sold more than bought, i loved it and hate ones that do it differently.

Thats exactly how the AH in FFXI worked.

2 items are for sale for 450g
AH history says they sell for 475g
    Person bids 460g, wins item1
Person bids 4600g because oops extra '0', wins item2.

"Look at me, I want everything for nothing, and have no idea what I'm talking about". To bad for you chief. Crafters deserve to get your money for the things they put time into and made. Sounds to me like your a self entitled brat who wants everything for dirt cheap.

Your also wrong about FFXI AH. It was a magnificent system, that worked amazingly well at keeping prices solid, but still fluctuating slightly. The reason people put items out on bazaar near the AH or out in zones is because their AH slots were filled, and they still had things to sell, so they'd go AFK selling it while off at school, etc. This wasn't because the AH was bad, it was because it was an option to sell additional stuff.

Also, certain super rare items were not able to be sold on the AH, as well as Dynamis currency. This meant having a MULE afk in the alternate zone to sell it. And as an additional example, signed gear made by crafters lost the signature once it was put on the AH, so high level signed items would be sold this way to preserve the makers mark.
