Dungeon Drops in The Tam-Tara DeepCroft

during a run using MRD we got a plundered Haubergeon drop and the need button was greyed out and said that this piece was not suitable for my current class even though it clearly says GLD, MRD, LNC, PLD, WAR, and DRG. to me any of these classes or jobs should have been able to roll need. later we got a drop that said disciple or war in general and I could not roll need as a MRD! please fix. during this run I had me as a MRD tank a ARC a THM and a CNJ and lost all gear for disciple of war to mage classes.

I've seen a few of these things in other dungeons as well.

He doesn't mind us conducting trials so close to his bazaar, so long as he's properly compensated... Yes, Portus, we pay him in sorcery-blasted bird flesh. - Cocobygo

The reason you can't need that gear is b/c it's not the best suitable gear for you. The Plundered Haubergeon is meant for the LNC/DRG, however a MRD/GLA can wear it, however they should be wearing the Plundered Cuirass instead which has more defense and the proper tank stats.

Also, initially in beta you could lot need on anything as a tank if you could wear it. This meant tanks were stealing Foestriker's and other sets that are sole DPS gear sets from DD. It was changed for the better in Phase 3.

And I'm saying this as a MRD/WAR myself.

Sadly to say but I think I'm going to have to play "Devil's advocate" here for a moment on behalf of OP. "Best suitable gear" for him wasn't dropping, however these pieces that his class could ostensibly use were dropping. It might not have been "The Best" by any stretch of the imagination but if it would have been upgrades, better they go where they'd see actual use right away (main spec, to use That Other MMO parlance) than to a DoM who's not currently classed in DoW gear/class (off spec, same way as before).

To put it simply, I disagree with you because Main Spec > Off Spec. He should rightly have been allowed to "Need" on the gear, whether or not this is Working As Intended. 'Twould be sad if "Working As Intended" = "lose potential upgrades to characters that might not ever intend to make use of them at all, outside of (maybe) Expert Delivery for GC seals".

That works great for tanks, but completely hurts DPS. DPS for the most part (exception of some LNC/DRG on tank pieces) can't even wear any of the heavy armor pieces - as they shouldn't since their classes aren't designed for heavy armor status. They're only allowed to essentially roll need on one armor. By allowing what you propose and what was in place previously, the tank essentially gets 'dibs' on tank gear and/or DPS gear. There will always be the tanks that have their green item drop, need it, then would proceed to need the next drop that was the green item for a bard/monk. With the old system of rolls in place you're relying on the honor of your playmates. Unfortunately, the vast majority with so many toxic players will roll need on any and everything they see if they're allowed. That's why the greed roll exists.

I do understand your point if the tank is wearing something that isn't as good as say a DPS green body that drops. It's not quite as good as their tanking piece, but it'd still be an upgrade. I understand that part well, but they shouldn't supersede the class it was designed for, especially since that class can only roll need on that one item and nothing else.

The simple answer is to remove the tank classes from the classes able to equip the armor to avoid the confusion. I can see cases where while soloing you may want some more damage oriented gear, but if that's the case they should be able to Need on it as well.

This is in no way aiming to be a flame and/or rude post. Just my
    opinion and a possible scenario:

-Green chest item drops with 50 defense and DoW can use.
    -Tank rolls need, gets, equips.
-Next boss a green chest item with 200 defense and DoW can use.
-Tank rolls need again, gets, equips.

MRD can roll need on both, LNC can roll need on only first item.
MRD wins both. LNC is pissed. Therein lies the problem.

That aside, I'll be a monkey's uncle if I am going to run level 50
dungeons with a tank that has 300 total defense as compared
to 1000 because he decided to roll on a bunch of items just
because they have upgraded stats but the defense is atrocious.
***Just throwing numbers out there as comparison.

As of the moment and after the changes in beta, this isn't possible. But it would be the problem if it was reverted.

this isn't a bug. Who can roll on accessories useable by multiple jobs is determined by the main stats. Anyone can equip a zircon choker (example), but it's made for caster mages. Thus only SMN and BLM would be able to roll on it if one dropped in a dungeon.

However, there are a few cases where this seems to be set incorrectly, where an item might have +str on it but can't be rolled on by the people who use it.
