Not open world but you can look at duty finder anytime you want to PvP when it becomes available.

I hope never. PvP always seems to ruin games, especially if it wasn't planned from the start. I can just imagine now, the few people who play on the servers would moan and complain that their class was gimped, and so and so needs to be nerfed while theirs needs to be buffed. All while ignoring how they perform in PvE.

Given that PvP was planned to be implemented and is being worked on, you're going to face those very same concerns regardless, and not because it wasn't planned from the start. Adding a fully ffa pvp server wouldn't impact your enjoyment of the game any more than not having one, so I don't see a reason to not have it.

PVP is coming the first being 4v4 and 8v8 in patch 2.1 and also frontline which will be large scale faction PVP. PVP in FF XIV ARR has been outlined since the start, not to mention Yoshi P is a massive PVP fan.
