    Final Sting mechanic

Anyone know exactly how final sting works?

Ran Temple of Qarn last night for the first time, we made it through however I was randomly one shot by final sting on the bee trash multiple times.

Tried burning it down fast, tried cc'ing it and saving for last, tried watching the bee for a shield stun but didn't see a cast timer, it would still randomly get off final sting though.

Interesting thing is it looked like final sting actually did less damage the more hp the bee had left, I had one go off at high health and it only hit me for like 1200. This compared to the first one I took where it insta-gibbed me for 2500 damage and made my healer go wtf?

Anyone have some insight into the mechanic and/or a reliable way to deal with it for future runs?

It has to be burned down also you can dodge it by moving out of its way like really out of its way and nothing will happen. You can also have the person run around in circles and burn it down that way too.

So basically kite it screaming "OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD", gotcha!

Know if the attack is time based or hp based?

Nah, don't kite it, just burn it down as he said. It is time based, which I think you said yourself when you said it does less damage the higher the mobs HP is =P

Kiting is a terrible idea though, because you're losing your dps + your melee dps will have a hell of a time hitting a moving target.

Just another reason to hate that stupid trap dungeon. I know some people think it's fun. It's not fun for the tank k?

Yep, as far as I know the Final Sting damage is an inverse function of its HP. That is, a full health bee will barely tickle you, but a low health bee will oneshot you.

It's fairly easy to deal with them once this happens. Burn the bees down as your priority every time you have a pull involving the bees (or if boss 1 summons them as adds). Then, when the bee gets lowish on health, or starts casting Final Sting -> Stun them. Be ready to use a paladin stun or warrior stun at about 10% health. DPS should be able to finish them off then.

The trick is to kill them fast once you start. Two bees flying around on full health isnt too bad, but the worst thing you can do is start dpsing them then change target or do something else. Stuns are your friend when on low health, and you need your DPS to be aware of how damaging the beestings are.

From my few runs of Qarn I think that Final Sting is triggered both by HP (bees hp going below a certain threshold) and time. I'm not really sure about the inverse function of HP, at least not for the Teratotaur adds. Those can hit for 2k even at full health.

As it was said previously, Final sting can (and should) be stunned. Even so, mark them so your DPS focus fire one of them, then the other one.

    Haha - that's funny.

It is indeed stunnable as others have said - and I do not think you can avoid it by running away - I tried it once when we lost both DPS to doom on the first boss, had one bee left about to final sting me, and I ran straight to the other side of the room. It popped off and blasted me for 2200, finishing me off.

The definitive mechanic is: kill them fast.
